Looking for a good set of snow tires for my little jeep, thinking of just getting studded tires and since I will have it parked in a garage just change them out if it is going to be nice for a few weeks/throw them on if the weather looks bad VS fighting with chains. They are ok with plows around here, but it can go months and not get warm enough to melt stuff off so I would think ice/hardpacked snow would be as much as an issue as snow. looking around in the 225/75R15 range or a little larger

Dats why I asked as if you have 4x4 you could almost have bald tires and get around. Swapping tires suck ,studs are great in ICE but thats about it.

:roflmao: i lived in it for 5 years. biggest reason i moved back to phoenix cause a black truck + salt + hippies that could care less for those that park next to them = one scratched up truck :(. not to metion i hate rust.

either way, even when we got over 5ft of snow in town, i never touched a set of chains or studded tires. Then again, i constantly liked doing 4wd drifts around corners. people get very scared when a truck like yours or mine do that. never understood why.............:D

I had the hankook winter Ipikes, and they were sweet! Not only good for acceleration and braking, but they did very well on corners also! I ran them without the studs and got 40,000 miles out of them!

Hahaha! I used to "work" at a ski resort, and we used to play a game called "i win".... just pull the e-brake when the driver wasn't looking and see if he could keep it on the road. Most of the time the passenger would just yell "i win!" as he pulled it... we dug alot of vehichles out of drifts that year.

Get the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 this is the tire we suggest to our customers over here in the swiss mountains. It is a really soft rubber so it will wear fast on dry roads and summer temps, but the best on snow and ice.
If you want a studded tire i would go with the Nokian Hakkapellita or Nordman SUV, those are also really good tires, just a little rougher than the Blizzak.

:roflmao::roflmao: now thats awesome! last time we did something like that, a buddy and i bought a pos subaru to beat the tar out of. we were doin a competition on who could get the most 360s in one try down a dirt road that was snow packed. my last try to beat my buddy (who got 6 spins starting at 50mph lol) i got 4 spins in and the car went off the only under road drainage ditch we didnt see. put it right on its lid. no one was hurt as it was one of them slow rolls but good times :D

I just put blizzaks on my car. So far i hate them but snow hasnt hit yet.

Loud, noisy, and killing my mpgs.

The Michelin ltx winters i had on the truck last winter were great. Put them on the van for this winter.
