How important are new thermostat gaskets and coolant orings?

Yes the thermostat gaskets are very necessary. Matt what coolant rings? if it is this one you HAVE to have it...

and this one that is between the water pump and tube is also VERY necessary

if they are not pinched or damaged in anyway they should be ok... but make sure you put that whole tube together as one unit otherwise you will run into my same exact problem that took a long time to finally figure out

OK thats what I was asking - where do people normally do it. Doing the drivers side allows it to get into the crossover feed with more volume, but the other rail is still limited. Am I going to hurt anything opening up both rails? I dont see how....

OK, so as posted last night all injectors are in along with the rails and lines. I put a race valve in place of the FPRV. Question though.... Ive got a few ported rail fittings here, where does it go? I dont remember hearing of people putting 2 on, but it seems it could go on the front of both rails, as they are both a small hole.

What should be the next few steps I do tonite? I know there is a methodical order to everything and I dont want to start putting things on and find out I needed to put something on earlier and have to tear things down. Id really love to get it in frame - maybe I can get it ready for that tonight.

I have a problem with the oil drain it looks like, Ill post a picture in a bit.

Thanks.

Matt I run 2 ported fittings in mine.

I don't know what to tell you Matt usually you only switch out the driver side rail but if you have two switch out the pass sound as well.

Nick you only change the rails on a 2004.5-2005 Duramax LLY diesel engines not the lbz and lmm's you just swap out the front feed line fittings.
