He licensed his pitman arm to Duramax Store and they sell it under their Kryptonite brand name. It is a very stout piece. Judging by the price they are pretty proud of it also.

When he was selling them I didn't think they were too high.

This is the reason I didn't buy the Cognito brackets long ago…too many people with issues. I replaced with Moog and after around 10-15k they are loose again. I always make sure I am moving to turn my 33's unless I don't have a choice.

TX of course
Or who puts a congito kit on there truck? Someone who is going to be hard on the frontend and don't want to break shit. So right off the bat most likely a truck with cognito you can ASSUME has seen a lot more abuse.

Not really true. I running 235/85 and just looking to strengthen the front end. I am going with sleeves as well and installing all new moog parts.

It's the same reason people put lbz/lmm rods in stock lb7 just to strength the motor.

I have not broken any yet. I have been running 33" mud terrains for about 60k miles. I tried doing some truck pulls with my keyed torsion bars. It didn't end well for the cv shafts. :roflmao: I would not say I am easy on mine except I make sure I am rolling to steer cus these pumps are weak.

Just noticed this thread, I snapped one about 6 months ago with the cognito braces. Looked to me like it stiffened the joint beyond the shear strength of the stud.

Truth be told even though it broke pulling into my driveway, it scared the crap out of me. Put a Moog replacement on with no braces, at this point I will take wearing out the arms and replacing them every so often vs. a catastrophic failure.

This argument about Cognitos has been going on for years. Neither side is gonna win it. I just hope nobody gets badly hurt or worse to prove their point.

my problem with them is there does seem to be a coginito and sheared arm connection, what ever the cause it's how the fail that bothers me. normal wear and tear you can feel the front end get loose and extremely sloppy, and you know something is wrong. When cognitos are installed they keep the steering tight, until the joint catastrophically fails leaving you without the ability to steer the truck.

That sounds bad obviously but as mentioned they "usually" fail when pulling out of a parking lot or at very low speed when rolling resistance is at it's highest along with stresses in the steering linkage.

Other front end solutions are available that do not have issues like this.

I have not broken a pitman arm in over a year, glad I took the cognito brace off. Coincidence?..... I think not! And I've been driving in much much worse terrain

I had a buddy shear a fairly new moog arm off in his driveway with a Ppe centerlink. Arm was about a year old with no play.

Still trying to figure that out
