Mines at 168K been over 160K for 4 years, but that don't bother me. The fact that its 10 years old now makes me a little sad.:roflmao:

Well mine is 13 years old. Since having the engine transplant, 3yrs and 30k ago, I like the truck even better than original. She's got 145k now. :woott:

Kid at work got me all worried about it, asked how many miles were on it and said i was a fool for "hot rodding" around with that many miles with stock internals especially when i told him i was doing headstuds gaskets and a 4094. Dont plan to make over 550 hp how do you guys feel about that?

Mine turned 10 last November. 165,xxx on the clock. If no one buys it soon, I'm sinking some money into the body and keeping it until the frame breaks.

I cracked a piston 8k miles after I decided to add some power. 4094 & 40% injectors pushed it right over the edge. I would avoid a stock 4094 and go with one of Danvilles modded vvts and have it tuned for minimal low end torque.

Yeah i had it sent to mark and turned to the stg2r and when the time comes tune the torgue out of it. If pistons are my weak link how much more involved would it to throw pistons in when im having the headgaskets done, motor will be coming out to do so

Bore/balance/keyed crank/cam.. Talking ~$4500-5000 in parts and machine working using stock rods, mahle race cast pistons, studed main, OEM LML head bolts, ARP rod bolts.
Labor cost not included in that number
Pistons ~2100
Machine ~1600(pending location)
Gaskets/bolts/bearings ~1500 easy
Plus little stuff that always happens

I bought my truck on March 11 2006......holy crap it's been a while. 240k big tune on her since 2008@50k miles. Water pump is the the only thing I've replaces engine wise besides getting the trans done 5 months ago. Once you put more fuel and air in the mix is when you have to really worry.

Soooo for easy numbers id say 10k plus it sounds like... Oh boy

To pay someone? yeah, and That's just a short block.. That's not heads , turbo, fuel etc.
Iirc I got ~500.00 in a valve job and head decked.

Labor rates fluctuate with area...some as Los $50.00 seen high as $120.00..
Tear down inspect, assembling looking at good 40-50 hour job.. IDK what the charge for removal/installing engine figured 5 hours each way
Sure Evan at limitless could give you a better idea on labor cost since he is close to you

Wait your worried because a kid at work thinks your a fool? lol Heck if your only going to 550hp whats the big deal. You could be there now with very high EGTs. Your doing yourself a favor by getting the egts in check or at least that what I tell myself. Now install a stroker cp3 and you might be a fool. Ill let you know.

If I had your truck I would keep it too. They become like a family member when you've had them as long as you and I

What happened to the old engine? All those years of running the bastard stack...

I only ran that for a couple months till Guy said try this(EFI). I was at 115k and my injectors were going out for the fourth time. At $3,600.00 for injectors or just over $7000 I got an LBZ installed from Russ. I was tired of not knowing when they would go out again.
