So I was driving today and pulled up to a stop sign. A cop pulls up after me and I turn. He follows and I watch him. He then turns on his lights and pulls me over. So I move to the side of the road wondering what I did wrong. He comes up to my truck and asks for my license and insurance and I gave it to him. He then tells me he pulled me over for now wearing my seatbelt. So im like Ok I wasnt wearing my seatbelt so he didnt pull me over for no reason. He goes back to his car and of course another cop pulls up and stands back and watches because our cops have nothing better to do than watch other cops cite people for stupid shit. After going back to his cruiser he comes back and tells me hes writing me a ticket and I have 15 days to pay it or theyre will be a warrant issued for my arrest. And I heard later tonight that its a 160 dollar tocket. WTF?? Because I wasnt wearing my seatbelt I potentially can get a warrant issued for my arrest. Ive never even been pulled over before and have never made any driving mistakes and I would have loved to have been giving a break. But Heaven forbid a cop actually do the somethin nice. And on top of that I was driving in a residentail area goin about 20 mph. I know I should have worn my seatbelt but that should be my own damn choice. Its my life not theirs and in my opinion I should choose whether I need a seatbelt or not. Im not endangering anyone else so this should be my choice. I had no idea that I could get a citation for 160 dollars for "endangering" myself. Im sorry but I think this shit is ridiculous. Maybe its just me though. Im sorry if this seems a bit stupid to post about but I needed to vent. Im just amazed that this happened. Its just plain ridiculous in my opinion.

I agree, seat belt tickets are ridiculous. I think the police should just shoot idiots not wearing them on site. That would save us all a lot of money and the families of dummies that don't wear them a lot of grief.....If you think you can only hurt yourself by not wearing one, you're very self centered and wrong....

i agree man .... before i go further i like to always buckle up and thinks it important ..... but i think anyone over 18 years old should have the free choice weither to buckle up or not , last i checked it is a free country..... and as long as i am by myself then no one but me is in danger, but if anyone has passengers buckle up for there sake , alot of people kill others while they are bouncing through the car from not wearing a seat belt .

sorry man that is a steep ticket .

I mean what the hell?? If I was hurting someone else Id understand but its my own life. I like to be left the hell alone and this just pissed me off. And give me a break, ive never even been pulled over before and im a good driver. Shouldnt I get somethin for that. I really have a strong dislike for the cops around here now, even more so than before. Im sorry if theres anyone on here whos a cop. I know some good cops. But they are few and far between nowdays. Now most are just a bunch of guys on a power trip with nothin else to do besided give citations for worthless shit like this. Im just mad that my money has to go to paying for a seatbelt ticket.

Do you not have any family or anyone that cares about you?

I dont know if this is a sarcastic post or not but people make mistakes alright? I dont just not wear one to be "rebellious". I forgot, OK? Its my own damn life so I should be able to choose. Ya I can only hurt myself so it should be my choice. I dont really care if thats self centered and wrong

Ya I do, so what? I didnt choose to not wear one because its uncomfortable or some shit.

Would it not hurt them to be told you died in an accedent? Would it not hurt the cops to tell your family you died in a crash, knowing you could have lived if you would have buckled up? I know it used to suck for me to scape up bodies of people who didn't wear their belt.....If you could spend a couple weeks with me and see the shit I see, I bet you wouldn't put in drive without a belt on...

Fair enough. Its a stupid thing to do and you would know the consequences better than I would but makin me pay for it pisses me off. Pullin me over for it is fine with me, just let me know to buckle up. What it comes down to in my eyes is that we should be able to make these choices for ourselves regardless of what others think because this is a free country. When the government starts deciding whats best for me they need to back off.

Just curious, if you get in an accident and your not wearing a belt, go through the windshield and get all muffed up but survive, do you think the insurance company is liable to pay for your medical bills?

In Iowa you have to wear a seat belt, but you do not need a helmet to ride a motorcycle. The things that make you go hhhmmmm

x2, I agree completely TJ.

I ALWAYS wear mine. I feel naked and get that queezy stomach feeling (like when you are just getting to the top of a roller coaster before it starts freefalling) if I dont have one on. Automatic habit. I hate riding in busses or other vehicles that dont have seatbelts.

What I dont understand is people who wear it "sometimes". WTF??!?? Thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard. Either wear it all the time or dont wear it. Whats that guys name, murphy I think? For you "occasional seatbelt users", you know its going to be one of your "off" days when you get into an accident and die.

The other thing I dont understand is the people who take it off when they get within like 2 minutes of their driveway (but still might be going 45-50mph down the road), as if its part of the "pre-landing" checklist or something. Thats stupid and doesnt make sense to me either. Is the car on fire? Are you about to pee your pants? After a 5 hour trip, is another 15 seconds of seatbelt wearing going to suddenly make you unbearably uncomfortable? Is "pre-unbuckeling" routine really going speed up your exit as soon as you pull into the garage and throw it in park? :joker:
