I posted this same info in my build thread but since this thread is s472/s480 specific, figured I post it here too.
Finally got my turbo back! This thing is awesome, absolutely love it. As far as easy driving goes, you can't tell a difference between this and my old s472, but trying to stage is and whole different story with my stock stall precision ml. Luckily my suncoast 1055 2500 rpm stall converter will be here tomorrow!
I left the tcm tune alone (stock shift points) and this 80mm was a dog, every time it shifted you fell right back under the turbo so I did some tweaking and raised all the shifts to 3700 rpm and it's night and day difference. I also had to change WOT down shifts so it would down shift and lot earlier and that also made a world of difference. With those RPM changes, this s480 comes to life quicker than my s472 ever did. I love this setup! I decided to not install the wastegate until the motor is actually built. I don't really see a need for it right now.
Here's little video of how it sounds...as far as easy driving, it doesn't sound any different than the s472 did, but WOT screams compared...
