I agree totally Dallas. This sport would be so much bigger if there was only 1 organization to deal with. It sucks when they both schedule events the same weekend and you have to decide which one to attend. Image how many more trucks would be at the races if they worked together. I love racing, period, but its kind of lame only having the same 8 or 9 trucks show up for a class.

Yeah I thought that was kinda crappy with 2 events going on at the same time when I came out to PA...with the other event only being a few hours away.

Trophies are the staple of racing. Money comes and goes, but trophies are great memories. If a race org can't do the bling, they shouldn't be running things.

Amen brother! My kids think they are the greatest thing in the world, and I love the memories they remind you of on down the road.

The original statement made that this is all based on, is NADM saying their payouts never change from event to event. The only place I go to and plan on making money is work each day, but I know how far I'm going to have to travel, and how much money is available if I do my job. I dont care if the payout is a free burger for a race win. Just let everyone know up front. Not after the race, and dont claim its the same for each race when its not. Didnt you and I discuss the fact that they didnt even have some cheap trophies to give to the winners? Money doesnt matter, but knowing where you stand does. 3 truck to 5 truck difference cost them 70$, but costs us(the racers) 400$

Matt, this is my whole point in being up front on payout. It is my position that it would be GREAT if the race winner was able to collect even enough to pay for the fuel to get his/her truck to the event and back home. On the flip-side of that coin (excuse the pun) is if a person is interested in monetary payout, go to the local track every weekend and earn it with points against serious, and great, competition.

However, I have to agree that trophies are the best award a person can receive at a big event. I don't know if it has been done yet, or if the NHRA rules allow diesels at national events, but it would be bad ass to see someone in the diesel community win a Wally.

I do know Scheid and John Robinson have both run at NHRA events, not sure if they were the big nationals though.

Actually it has been done. Paul Breedlove from Klamath Falls, Oregon has won at least one Wally with his Cummins Bracket racing truck. Great drag racer.

I totally agree on the trophie deal. Its a shame they didn't have SOMETHING other than a purse at a so called diesel national. I was once told by a good friend that has drag raced for years. " Yea, I took home the hisemen that night. I one the gold at Trails. A guy came up to me later that night and asked if he could buy the trophie for his son. I said, Any money in the world couldn't buy this one buddy :thumb:" Quote from John Spires lol I agree, When I tried drag racing and truck pulled. All i cared about was the trophie or plack at the end of the night. Hell for that matter I raced quads for a few years and only gave a shit about the trophies and how big they were lol.

I hauled my lb7 almost 5 hours a few weeks ago to a mudrace and won the Diesel class and they gave me 100$ and a trophy. The money doesnt matter but the wall of trophies will always be there. But, I would be very upset if an event advertised a certain payout and I won it and they didnt pay.

Robinson is a stand up guy, I was at an event (ts) and needed a wrench (really bad) so I walked to his trailer and he loaned it to me...

I tried to pay him for letting me use it but he refused and gave me a whole bunch of hats and beer coolies. Im a nobody, and he certainly wasnt obligated to let me run off with his snap-on rachet and 15mm socket...:thumb:
