Any thoughts as to why it would happen?? Lack of lube?

My Allison engineer told me it was a common problem and Allison had a lot of warranty issues due to the improper bonding of the C3/C4 pistons. This can happen at any time on a stock piston. I've seen many C3 pistons do this but this is the first time I saw a C4 piston do it. It doesn't surprise me since they are identical but C3 is under more stress than C4.
I have yet to see an Alto piston do this.

I have seen c3s tear like that, i have also heard from mike and an allison guy that the oe pistons had this issue.

I seem to be having a stupid moment here, can some one please explain to me how tuning can tear a apply piston?

Tuning cannot tear a piston. It is a bonding issue. Only the bottom lip touches the case surface. These pistons tear above the lip on the side wall and that part of the piston doesn't touch anything.

I feel better now as I have ALTO pistons in it this time around.

I was wrong. I knew what I wanted to say, but my brain sometimes lags behind. It was not tuning as Mike said, and as you know, but I dont think the tuning it had in it before I bought it helped any. It scared me.

if they made  for texting, i think id have close to 1,000 by now :roflmao:

I have wasted 3/4 tank of fuel driving around. It's doin alright.. :D:hug:
