Um, No. that thing has been beat, HARD.
Yup many high boost launches or burn outs. It's trashed

That's just silly, there is no way running off in a ditch could come anywhere close to doing that damage. As a matter of fact, I've never heard of any internal damage being done to one of these even rolling it over, or any trans for that matter. Like I said, and the other guys will tell you too, that is from repeated abuse. I would be surprised if a stock power engine could do that damage. When I tore mine up like that I bought used replacement parts from an outfit in Denver. I'll see if I can find there info.
There is always the possability that when it was in the ditch the driver might have tried to get it out under its own power. if the truck was sideways the fluid in the sump would be to one side and the pump might have run dry and smoked the slutches.
This is purely a thought only.
True, but at the same time the rest of the truck would be in the same condition, this would include the engine and fuel tank. The engine would have damage from the oil settling to one side, the tank would have to be pretty full for the pick up not to be grabbing air too...
I say it was beat hard based off of the condition of the splines, not the clutches. If you beat on a trans a with high power and it slams those clutches hard, it can damage those splines. Then the clutches can't move smoothly and don't disengage causing them to rub and create heat all the time. I highly doubt that burning up the clutches will cause them to hang up and damage the splines, since once they're burnt up they don't hold.
Mike correct me if I'm wrong here.
Just FYI, All the VIN checks in the world won't tell you how a truck was driven.
I'm VERY familiar with this stuff, I deal with wrecking yards on a daily basis
I would just about put money on it that that transmission was not in that truck, or any truck for that matter, when it was wrecked. My money is that that trans is the core the yard received when they sold the one that came out of the truck. Someone along the way, increased their profit a good bit by knowingly selling a core trans. Any reputable yard insures the parts they sell. There should be a reverse flow of money here since someone didn't play strait.
That sounds like a pretty plausible theory to me.There is always the possability that when it was in the ditch the driver might have tried to get it out under its own power. if the truck was sideways the fluid in the sump would be to one side and the pump might have run dry and smoked the slutches.

just got off the phone with the wrecking yard. I was off in my remembering of this, he said from the time it went in the ditch (on its roof) till he got it ,it was never driven. The wrecker pulled it out, loaded it up and brought it to the yard. He said he personally got in it and drove it around his yard and then pulled it in the back lot so no one would mess with it. he said it ran and drove fine before they pulled it out. At this point, he is sticking to that fact and saying it was good when it was pulled. He said if he had a question about it he would find another trans but he said he didn't because he drove it so I guess we are stuck. . I am very sorry and I would never knowingly sell something like this. Again, I am sorry. Larry
Even if he did find another trans the shipping and time would be killer. i will try and find a way to get some extra cash to help if I can, I don't have much but I also don't like people getting screwed. I will call mike today and see what i can do.
Just so you know I'm not implying that you in anyway did anything to hide facts on he condition of the items sold. I really have don't know I'm just speculating . If you were told untruths that sucks. Not trying to throw you under the bus . If it looks that way I apologize. It's not my intentions just a conversation my opinion as to what it looks like happened. Crap happens ,sucks your stuck ,good luck
You may have mis interpreted my post. I put the shift kit in when I got it. It never came with one.
I don't know larry and he doesn't know me. But I have no reason to doubt him and the story. He has been more than helpful from first contact about the motor.
I don't know the forum rules on this, but if larry has nothing to hide, he should name the wrecking yard that screwed him, and subsequently me. If they are not willing to come forward in anyway.
Now that the trans is out, I don't mind spending the money to strengthen it up. But I never intended to as stock power was plenty. The downtime and labor is costing me a fortune and I think the people doing the dirty have some responsibilty to uphold!
