Beans truck is so bad ass. I love that thing. If I had the money and time, I'd be all over that way before a 01+ newer body style. Something about that older body that makes it look even cooler.

I'm not running a Duraflite but I am running a 47rh behind the LBZ in my Camaro. I also recommend the manual valve body. It's a blast to drive IMO and is very easy to drive on the street. Mine is set up for full line pressure all the time so it shifts pretty hard, but if you short shift it's not harsh at all.

Those are definitely nice trucks Rob. Thanks for posting them. My vision is something that I could run Super Street or Pro street so making the guidelines is imperative. Pro Stock would put me in a situation that there us nobody thereto race against so to speak. Even if I lower my expectations I would like as much flexibility to be able to make passes like you are doing with Maxxed Out. Beans truck looks to be a good deal. I would prefer a newer body style to have a modern overtone.

You'd have to be careful if trying to get into Super Street classes, as I understand it they are heavier trucks (take an insane amount of power and grossly overbuilt driveline to go 8s consistently) and more importantly, they can't have back-half, three links, 4-links, rear coilovers, etc. so I'd imagine traction becomes a real issue in a 2wd in Super Street with oe-style suspension components. That would also knock out most any roller as most are linked/coilover rears.

I don't want to be a downer, but with some experience in this you will not keep a Super Street running in the 8's. As Mitch stated, no back half/3-4link, 6000lb min. 4x4 DOT tires, 5000 lb 2x4. The power needed to be made to do this is not repeatable with a Duramax at this time IMHO.

Pro Street, there are only a couple trucks in the 8's and none with a duramax. a couple are close. 4500lb min.

If 8's are really the goal, then shoot high and pull back if needed. Really comes down to lbs per HP. Look at what the true racers are making for HP with a duramax (not the dyno queens) and then simple math will set your limits/goals. Give some of the top guys on the quick 50 list a shout and ask their opinion, like Jeff Dean, Buck, Brent and you will have a good idea of what is obtainable.

I hadn't checked the rules that close but figured that after I had posted that comment and thought about it I would probably be limited to prostreet. I may just lower the goal for super street. Hell I may not me able to do it at all. Have to see if it is all in the cards or not. I have spoken with Brett some and talked with Jeff in the past but not about these goals.

Sub'd...

I also wonder about a trans, but for a street car. I'm considering repowering my back halved mini tubbed '65 Chevy Malibu with a LBZ. Car was 3850 lbs with me and a 468 BBC with iron heads.

Car has a fiberglass hood, full door panels and dash and rear seat with a 8 yr expired 8.50 cert cage. Even has OEM chrome bumpers.

I was leaning towards 4l80, manual shift valve body.

I think that would take somewhere around 1400hp to run an 8.90 at 5k lbs. That seems like a pretty tall order getting that much power to hook in 2wd that would fit in the SS rules.
