Hey guys,

I've got a 2015 GMC LML. I've got a 6" procomp lift on it. I recently replaced the procomp ES9000 shocks that came with the kit with FOX remote resi's with the adjusters. I also installed cognito UCA's thinking that this should help the ride quality out quite a bit.

I was concerned about the shock lengths because the fox shocks are about 2" shorter than the procomps. Fox said it would be fine.

Well it's not. The ride is awful. Way worse than with the procomp shocks and stock UCA's. Boarder line not drivable. It's extremely bouncy. Like I hit a bump and it keeps bouncing after I'm through it. I've tried all settings and it doesn't make much difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are the shocks riding at full extension? Two inches is a lot of difference in a shock that only has a max of about six inches of travel.

I need to call the shop to ask them what they did as far as setting the ride height. I did notice the front was a little lower after getting the new shocks.

If it's sitting lower then the shocks are probably at max extension and pulling the front down. Looks like they're too short.

Unbolt one side and see how they sit. They won't last long like that. You're either going to need extensions or longer shocks.

Thanks guys. I'll measure them at ride height and again while off the ground when I get home tonight.

Could the UCA's cause these ride symptoms too? I don't have a leveling kit with my lift and the torsion bars aren't cranked either.

I would be surprised if the UCAs are causing an issue with ride quality. Not saying it isn't possible, but it would have to be a very strange situation to cause it.

Please give us the exact fox shock you are using (body size and total stroke are enough for me to figure out what you have) and are you using any shocks off the UCA? single shock in the factory mount location?

are we talking like an old 60s caddy style bounce/float or like your pogoing with no shocks at all on the front end.

And I'm on a pogo stick. Lol.

That's for the shocks that came with the lift, right? For the part number you provided on the Fox shocks, I see the following specs:

Ext. Length: 22.809
Col. Length: 14.869
Travel: 7.940

i would suggest you check the nitrogen level. i bet there is none in there as most places dont ship those style shocks with nitrogen. everything your giving me points to that as well.

on the reservoir at the end where there is no hose, there is a shrader valve under a cap like you find on a tire. find a high pressure air pressure gauge like used on heavy duty tires and quickly apply it to the valve then pull off. if it maxes out, shes charged up. if anything under 75psi comes up, you need to charge them with nitrogen and that will cure your issue

depending on what fox recommends for the valving, they should be charged with 150-200psi of nitrogen.

that is on the short side but for a 6", i agree with fox that it should not be your limiting issue. the coilovers on my 8" lifted truck are 23.25" from frame mount to center of the bolt hole at full extention.

Stock to stock, LML shocks are longer than what is used on our trucks. I don't mess with lifts that much, but I would assume it is the same comparing shocks used with lift kits.

Okay I'll check that too. I appreciate the help. I'll let you know what I find shortly.

there suspension isnt too far off from the 01-10s. GM finally decided they should put a shock on that doesnt limit down travel on the LML. with his lift, that shock should very well be just fine unless that front end is cranked up but like he had stated earlier, its not. hes description isnt really pointing to too short a shock either but we can only "see" so much over the net.

what hes describing is classic signs of no nitrogen in the shocks. If there is plenty, id have him measure how much shock shaft is showing at ride height and then go from there.
