Hey guys went to check it and couldn't get the cover off because I don't have a spanner wrench. Is there any way to get the cover off without one? Or should I figure on adding one to the tool box? Or do I even need one? Sorry for the noob questions, it's my first time digging into these shocks.

This isn't mine but I'm assuming the cap that you're taking about this black cap on top of the resi shown here. I've got to pick the wax/plastic shit out of the shrader valve too.

hmmm. i personally dont like those shocks if those are the exact ones you have, they are the old style. they are the lowest line shock they offer and the internals show it. they also come precharged and ready to go. if the shrader is packed with wax, its more than likely charged as well. thats not to say they didnt bleed down for some reason but lets check a few other things first.

can you measure how much shock shaft is showing right now with the truck resting at ride height?

Well that's disappointing considering I paid over $300 a piece for them. Anyways, just measures them. Exposed shaft is 7 7/8" and 10 3/4" from the bottom of the shock body to the center of the bottom mounting bolt. The jack at my house is messed up so I'm not sure if I got a completely accurate reading on the ride height.

if you have 7-7/8" shaft showing @ ride hight the shocks are maxed out using josh h's measurments. that would be your problem

Unbolt the shock, then Jack the front end up by the crossmember, not the control arm. Now measure from the center of the bolt hole on the LCA to the bottom of the frame mount where the shock connects to it. That will tell you what length shock you need
