I dont think that it will ever be that way again.I remember when and it hasnt been that long ago around here in the sticks but since there are more crank addicts than there are good people you better take the battery with you or you wont have any wheels.Thats why i carry my pistol with me every place i go.

In Colorado, I carried cause it was nice having a gun with you and I have a love for guns, and never felt like I would need it for self defense. Now I live in Vegas, and sometimes I feel I'd be an idiot not to carry often.

It really is sad. There are a bunch of Shell stations around my area that Road Runner has taken ownership of. They did away with the prepay bs and those are the only places I go. I wont fuel at a station I have to prepay at anymore. More then once have I pulled out of one and drove across the street and filled up.

I do miss being able to leave my truck run though and not have to worry about someone driving off in it. Heck up by my work you cant get out without hiding anything inside of it and setting the alarm.

I remember when the bed of a pickup was a "safe" place to leave things. Growing up, I used to leave stuff in the bed of my truck all the time and go into a restaurant or store, etc. Nowadays, if I have something in my bed I can't lock up, I have to park where I can see it or back up to something so it can't easily be jacked.

I use to but after watching my truck drive away after I just got it I wont do that again. Luckly they dumped it a few miles away after stealing all my Cds and my wallet out of the truck.

We still have fuel stations you don't have to prepay...but this is a rural area. I live between two small one-horse towns...the one to the west I could leave my truck running and not think much about it, the one to the east (too many slumlords not screening renters) for me to even leave my truck unlocked while I run into the store.

I found a place you don't have to Pre pay/pay at the pump in rural TX. I got fuel went in took a leak hoped in my truck and drove off.... After 100 yards I saw my wallet sitting there and it hit me so I turned around. I think the guy in the back was on the phone with the cops when I came in to pay. So I don't care about pre paying as long as its got pay at the pump. I hate making 2 trips into the store. I have to do it all the time when I fuel up our Lowboy or any time for that matter at the truck stops.

I leave my truck running, but with my remote start I can pull the key out and it stays running.

Now the bed of your truck being safe I'm screwed on that. Back when I worked for my dad we would leave $1000 worth of tools in the bed of our truck anywhere. Now a days I don't leave my truck alone if I have something in the bed that won't let me lock the cover and the stuff that always in my bed isn't worth $200.

My parents still leave there house unlock and the keys in there vehicles on the farm, but I sure don't know why. There neighbor was arrested for make meth a few times. They finely put him away for good for kidnapping a girls whos car had broke down.

Pumps up here for diesel say prepay and I have yet to prepay. Just pull up, pump my fuel and run inside and pay. Also leave the truck running if I run into a store quick and its cold outside but I usually take the keys and use the remote start to keep the truck running.

I do mine all the time. I just take the key FOB off and lock it that way.

Mine will lock up with the key in the ignition with it running, i do it all the time in the winter. I have my keyless entry fob on a quick release, pull it off shut the door and use the key fob to lock it. You have to use the fob because it will not lock when running by hitting the lock button on the door.

If I leave it running, I try to remember to put the dsp5 on the anti-theft tune that just idles. No pedal response. So hopefully, even if someone did hop in to try n steal it, they would quickly abort mission when it didn't do anything when the mashed on the skinny pedal. :rofl: Hopefully that would daze them enough to not even think or look for buttons or knobs to turn to try n fix it.
