"Reman Head"... What Would You Do?

Without going into details until the matter is resolved, I've submitted some pictures of the deck surface on the #5 cylinder of a reman cylinder head that I received from a vendor here with one simple question. Even if this head vacuum tested ok and whatnot, would you mount this to your truck???

Not a chance a crack could easily start in one of those divits. It would always be in the back of your mind too.

Obviously whoever the **** sold that to you never even looked at it before shipping it off.

Well that's what I was afraid of and what I thought too. This was the last head they have and are now quoting me 2 weeks turn around to have another one machined and sent out. A few more sanity check questions: After your staff having made a customer wait a week before calling to notify them of a delay based on freeze plugs, (an issue that I'll go into another time) would you be embarrassed to send this head to them? Also, If you only had two heads left and the exact same customer had already bought one of them 3-4 weeks prior, would you already have a core at the machine shop so that you could have another unit back on your shelf? Lastly, is there anyway in hell you would charge that customer full price or expect them to pay return shipping? I understand these are possibly "loaded" questions, but I sorta feel a particular way about them and want to see where my emotions lay among the masses of this product's consumer basis. I cannot begin to explain how disappointed I am.

I would want every single dollar back that it costed me to buy, ship, and return the head. I wouldn't settle for anything else.

It was looked at by someone I can promise you. She was obviously not a conscience bearing human and definitely not a member of any sort of quality control or customer service though. Or at least that's the only conclusion I can derive.

Oh, and another not so loaded question: If you didn't have a good core, where would you go to get a decent priced fully remaned head for one of our trucks?

 You have got to be kidding me?!? Is this another indicator of what we're dropping off to?

X2 -- You had better get every cent back that you gave them, including shipping, tax and any core charge.

If you purchased two heads I would return both for a full refund no ifs, ands or butts. What is the quality of the other head is now the question if you purchased a pair.

I'm curious to hear who the vendor is. I have a feeling I know who it is..there's no reason to be sending that to a customer. How much did you pay for that?

Holy pitting batman! No chance in hell I would even think about it

I don't think that is pitting, that looks like marks from a dropped valve prior to rebuild. Should be salvageable (although not on the OP's dime). Since the head is aluminum it could be welded and machined smooth again, but again not the OP's problem to deal with.

When I buy heads they generally come with freeze plugs in them or loose in the box. Not sure why anyone would waste your time sending out heads that look like that. It's just a waste of everyone's time and energy.
