No, not required as far as I'm concerned due to the fact that on a RC the frame radius rolling down is already as far forward as it can be . The back end of the frame is flat for a good distance . I cut approximately 18" off the rear (last thing I did after measuring 20 times LOL), used the existing front 2 brackets, relocated the 2nd set of brackets and drilled 4 new bolt holes in the rear of the frame so the bed has all 8 bolts back in it .

I'd definitely like to see pictures of that when you get the bed off. I pulled the bed off of mine last week and I'm getting ready to short bed mine. I've been planning to do it the way where you cut it at the seam and slide the rails forward. Are you using a factory short bed tank? Did you move that crossmember forward if so?

Here's my regular cab. Not much to look at now, but it will be shorter soon.

Took the bed off, snowed the next day.

I kept my big fuel tank and put it in the bed across the width of the bed all the way forward . Plan is to put a bed cover on it to cover it and my NOS bottle too . I didn't wanna lose my capacity and my fuel gauge . I'll post pics sometime mid week next week . Keep in mind I'm running coil overs and ladder bars , Not sure that changes much . Personally I would avoid cutting the frame in the middle if at all possible.

As soon as I can figure out how to post pic I'll get sum of mine on here!! Said I have to have so may post bf it will let me! Lol my frame was cut out just behind the cab toward the front of bed.

Thanks. It typically launches very well. I'm on DRs ,4x4 ,coilovers at 4 corners and 36" ladder bars. The shorter wheel base should be better for weight transfer, not to mention the AW factor . I wanna weigh it soon .

If you don't mind me askin.. What coilovers did u put up front and n rear? I'm thinking bout doin them at all four but wasn't sure what size and weight I needed.

Front coilover setup came from a place in Austin Tx called DB rods 512-809-1854 . I believe Dustin at ATP turned me on to them . The rear setup I got from S&W racing . It's a HD 36" ladder bar and coil over setup with a pan hard bar .

I think the springs up front IIRC were rated at 1100#. S&W set me up with 400# for the rear I think after I had told them how much my truck weighed with just the rear tires on the scales , and that was when I had my long bed . They work great with the short bed as well . I have my 2 batteries behind the rear end and I relocated my fuel tank to the front of the bed . I plan on putting a cover on the bed and didn't want to loose the capacity .

Thank u sir for the info!! I have my 15gal fuel cell under the bed between frame just behind rear end with a red top optima battery on each side of the cell. My rear shocks are mounted at a 90 in relation to the frame and rear end and they are positioned between the caltracs and the dif with qa1 double adj for shocks with a 5 position bracket for the bottom shock mount for adjustments. I was wanting to try the coilovers up front with double adj to try n get my 60's down more and mayb lose more weight from the t-bars. 1.62 is the best I can do for now.

Your rear set up sounds just like what I was wantin to try with the coilovers
but I might just do the front for now see what that get's me. I need a lot more seat time in this truck to figure it out! lol

I did it for the weight savings as well as control I haven't gotten to the scales yet and won't till I get my new built motor back in . And Yea its cool too .

Sure did . I had bought some super big Helwig sway bars for front and back . Then I changed my mind and removed the stock one . So now I'm trying to sell the Helwigs
