And to the OP I can let you try an ECM / TCM combo to test , as long as i can trust the tune being kept private, i don't mind helping , with as many problems as you have had trying to solve this .

Thats way cool!!

As soon as you get this problem ironed out give me a shout! The bad thing is we both have the same two problems.... I demand 23000 and can only hold 19000, but i don't know what pulse width any of the tunes are. And the second problem i have is the 3-4 up shift and down shift... Have you ever put it in tow haul to see if you get any flares anywhere else? Mine does the 3-4 4-3 in normal mode at wot and in tow haul the 2-3 and 3-4 shift.

For me, tow/haul and reg mode gave the same issues both only in the 3rd to 4th up shift. i never had any issues with the down shift part.

The trans issue is fixed now though. she shifts smooth as can be. i appreciate what you did trent. :D

Now time for a CP3

my tranny was shifting like ass lately too and i had Trent do me an '01 os and a tcm tune and its the best its shifted ever. my 2-3 shift would act like it was flaring and then slam into gear and the 3-4 would do the same double shift you had and it was a rough shift. the 3-4 would actually chirp the tires twice on the shift. glad you got it worked out. its enough to make you sick to your stomach:(

oh thats an understatment. after learning i could twist c2 hubs from it i almost didnt want to do any more big hp runs through 4th gear, i was scared to even try trents tune just cause i had a feeling of being on borrowed time. if i had smaller tires than 37s im sure id break them loose it would shift so hard.

Without giving away "trade secrets", what was the issue related too? I'm assuming fueling as that was the logs you were looking for and his response of needing to get a CP3...?

Once again, great teamwork in figuring out a problem!

I cant say what the prior problem was , he def doesnt need a cp3 for it to shift right , but does before the tune can be cranked to its full potnetial , I didnt see any previous logs , nor the previous tunes , I sent him over a ECM tune , and TCM tune that combined have proven to shift well together and are close to what is used in my race truck , nothing different what i use in every tune really .

i do need a CP3 only cause anything much over 2300pw makes rail pressure start to drop from 23,000 desired. whether that had anything to do with my shift issue i cant say and wouldnt think it would as even on a bone stock original tune for my truck, you could still feel the "double shift". it jsut wasnt as pronounced as a big tune

Some always think the obvious is the trans build. Which is the easiest to say the problem is. With everything that goes on to make these things shift and run right sometimes the easiest thing isn't always the right thing. How pisssed off would you be if you listened to someone that says it's the trans build, pulled the trans, and did all that work for nothing! Glad it got figured out!

Steve you are absolutely correct. The guys that wanted to pull the trans would still be looking for stuff and not finding it. The sad part is they have no idea how the Allison works although they think they do. Reading Allison tech does not make you a builder; it gives you enough rope to hang yourself and piss off your customer.
Beware of people that offer to build a trans for food. They fill their bellys and leave you hungry.

Good work Trent I'd have been wrong to yank it out. Pretty cool that you could step up to the plate when everyone else failed and did it for nothing. You're a good man
