I just bought an 01 with really low oil pressure for 2,500

I agree that lb7s are becoming affordable as a "play" truck

And as far as I know it takes a shit load of hp like 800?? to even be competitive in 2.6 so WS would be much much cheaper IMO
X2 lb7s are still my pick :thumb:

I believe Fleece dropped the IHI cheetah because the IHI housing when opened up to the max and with a matching wheel only flowed like 15%? more than stock. Basically a waste of money when it's going to fail tech for a stock turbo class and wont hold a candle to a true 2.5 s3 or s4.

Not sure if that ad had a price or not but I was told $3000 for the 71mm :spit:

Just looked at the top 50 list and atleast 23 of the trucks on the list are lb7 i think they are doing fine.

really? you mean no one is in a hurry to mod the hell out of their new trucks. i bet most of those guys did up an lb7 cause they found one cheap and they didn't want to risk blowing up their daily drivers. i am only guessing though.

That's fine...but that would be a skewed example.

Think of the year breakdown...LB7s - 3.5 years, LLY - 1.5 years, LBZ - 1.5 years, LMM - 2.5 years, LML - TBD. The LB7 has been out the longest (i.e. more R&D time in the aftermarket)...I'd hope they'd have a fair showing.

I see the turbo discussion has changed since a price was listed.

I'm going back to watching my dvd of SDX '04.

A lot of people cant afford a new truck period... thats why they DD and mod the lb7 they have and can afford

There is a thread on diesel place about the 66mm version of this charger. I guess it's a whole new center section. The only thing the same is the cover and exhaust housing. Not sure on price but I bet a s400 would be cheaper. River city puts on a few pulls and the work stock class is a stock appearing class and doesn't matter what size the turbo is. So I imagine that's y they r building them

lol the d.t.466 is older than an lb7 and people still make them run.... the lb7 is a good runner... yeah they have injectors under valve covers. and they can be a pain to work on.. but they run good.. its all about set up..

I also think that the reason the IHI turbo hasnt had much R&D is because no ones knows much about them.... I mean you can get all kinda of parts for garret turbos... and garret makes alot of diffrent turbos... so its ganna take a little more work for the ihi... its not ganna be as easy as calling up engineered diesel and make a vvt cheetha

Also heard that the truck that has that 66mm charger might have an article in diesel power mag sometime. Not sure if that is true though.
