Just priced out a 1500 Ram 3.0 EcoDiesel on the website. 36,800 for a Reg Cab Big Horn with almost zero options. The diesel adds 4500 to the sticker price. It doesnt seem like you can get the diesel on the lower end, work truck models. That to me is kind of pointless. The option isnt even available for selection until you get into the Big Horn trim level. A loaded up SLT Laramie will definitely crest the 50k mark. What's the point when you can get a decent 2500 with a Cummins for damn near the same price? I guess we'll have to wait and see what's in store for the 1/2 ton diesel market.

Looks damn good!! Is the price like a Tahoe ($$$$) or explorer ($$)??

Bosses at work switched from tables to explorers & saved about $15k ea for similarly optioned vehicles. I was amazed they're that much different. But the explorer is on a Taurus chassis now I think??? Boo. It's a bit smaller, at least exterior dimensions are.

Priced more like a tahoe lol. I love the new explorers though, for what they are. Honestly, all three are excellent choices, I just wanted this drivetrain, end of story.

Chris, there is a point since a cummins will get much worse fuel mileage and have more drivetrain issues.

Dude that Jeep is sweet on inside.

Very true. I was meaning "what's the point" of not offering it until the higher end trim levels. One would assume that most of the sales could be had in the working segment. Its just odd to me that you have to spend almost 40k before you can get the diesel. I would assume that the majority would spring for the 3/4 ton for a few thousand more. A stripped down 1500 RCLB with the 3.0 would be one hell of a light duty worktruck! I'm really looking forward to hearing how they perform and sale. Hopefully this opens the whole field up for light duty diesels in the USDM.

Oh gotchya. Yea, I don't think the majority of customers look at the expensive options like diesel drivetrain when picking out a work truck package. maybe fleet accounts can do it? Not sure.

The grand Cherokee is a very nice looking vehicle. I'm not sold on the VM just yet but am hoping it will.

Am I dreaming or did I see where the gc has an irs now?

The fit and finish on my SRT8 Grand Cherokee is miles ahead of my wife's 2013 Denali.... I mean miles ahead. I'm really pissed at GM right now. They are always the last to offer, always a follower.

the ford sync is slow and disorganized. just like the gm system. this had PIP ability with nav, which is Garmin-produced, and it doesn't slow it down at all.

I hear in one of the rumors that was floating around that the 1/2 ton Chevy were going to get a 5 liter v8 cummins. So I would love to see this happen as much as the next guy, but until it is officially announced by GM, Ford, or Ram I am not getting my hopes up. But on another note there is a diesel Cruise.:thumb:

Not to derail but word on the street is that the Titan is supposed to get this engine.

Yes but your wifes Denali has an interior that was designed in ~2004ish...

The WK2 Grand cherokee's interior design is a good 6 years newer.

Totally unfair comparison...now comparing a 2015 Tahoe interior to a WK2 GC is more equal.

Still miles ahead. Interior quality has sucked on GM for a while now. We looked at new yukons and decided we wouldn't be buying one.

Ive been in both (2015 tahoe and the 2014 WK2's) and thought they were about the same as far as fit/finish, but thats JMO.

I agree the 2007-2014 GMT-900 interiors are a crappy sea of hard-plastic.

I finally found one to drive, it was the dealer managers personal demo ride and was fully loaded obviously.

I was impressed, real snappy from a stoplight, nice and torquey. I've never been in a HD truck that you could feel the torque like the VM, the power delivery is completely different.

8 speed felt fine, I've had people say you can't feel the shifts but you absolutely can. Effortless acceleration onto the interstate. The only thing I didn't get to try was hammer down from a slow roll or stop, or any acceleration on the interstate. I suspect on the interstate, the 240hp will be more noticeable as the torque won't cover for it as much as around town.

Very nice truck and engine/trans, I want one even more now.
