5000lb, fuel-only.

My thoughts:

No 3/4 ton truck with a frame and real axles is going to get down to 5000lb with driver and safety equipment.

All the current Dmaxes and Powerstrokes running ProStreet are nitrous based, or over 6000lb.

To put it in perspective, a Dodge Dakota V6 gas 2wd mini-truck is 4300lb in the lightest configuration. Add a 200lb driver, and 300lb of safety equipment, you'd still have a tough time.

Basically, the class is aimed at exclusively twin'd Dodge 12v trucks put into race chassis's.

I see nothing wrong with this class as long as they remove the 5000lb rule completely (it's not a truck weight to begin with), and make it single charger to level the field. This would give trucks like Orange Crush and Buck/Jess a solid shot at competing.

i think a good bit of the push behind this class is for the 1500 series trucks that have had diesels stuffed in them.the class does seem to be tailored for a few trucks.not saying it is but it does appear this way.i even asked about running a weight of say 6000 and letting us run nos but they apparently really want an all diesel class.when prostreet first started there was a weight adjustment for twin turbos, nos and 2wds.as far as a level playing field those guys will never catch the smith truck unless they find a few hunderd hp and drop the weight...

I think the class was really designed to get rid of Stuckey, but in the process, it kills the existing Dmax and Ford entries in the same effort.

They don't really want an "all diesel" fuel class, they want oxygenated fuel and water injection. But by excluding nitrous, they remove Stuckey.

I don't know if they also want to get rid of Smith, but they did say Street truck, which the Smith truck isn't last I saw. They might make an exclusion for grouted block trucks though.

Here's my "counter-offer":

No engine swaps. 3/4 or 1 ton only.
6500lb.
Single charger.
Fuel only.

:D

Seriously,

The first set of rules was actually pretty good. But they couldn't beat Stuckey reliably.
So they went to a 10.50 index. They still couldn't beat him without changing the rules at the finals. Then the blamed the 10.50 index on me. :D
Now they want remove the nitrous. But I think that Stuckey could still set up his truck to rape them again on just fuel.

Wouldn't it just be easier to just make it an Outlaw class? They Outlaw anyone who stands a chance of whupping them? :D

lovely...

What does a guy without a full tube chassis and a bunk of aluminum do... it appears these classes (if implemented) leave a large "gap", no?

Why are these organizations so gung ho about weight classes? If Pats truck at 6600 can run 10.0 and a truck like Orange Crush can run a 10.0 at 5400 WHO GIVES A SHIT? 4x4 or 2WD shouldn't make differences... who ever can get there truck dialed in to a 10.50 should win... The Duramax can run 10.50's on #2 and so can the Cummin's while it is equally hard it can be done. it is ridiculous. I agree with Pat in saying that NO ENGINE SWAPS and 3/4 - 1 TON only.

Why the hell would you limit how much the truck can weigh? Min yes, but to have a max:confused: If someone can run 9s with a 23,496 lbs truck....who cares:D

Only thing I see wrong with this is there will be a huge disparity in trucks that would "qualify" as Pro-Street. You guys are (were) running mid-10s on a single charger, yet a stock charger truck running 13's (or 14's for that matter) would also qualify for this class. Hell, my truck right now would qualify, but am I in the same class as you and Casper??? Oh hell no.
And what do you do about all the twin trucks out there??? They deserve the same shot as everyone else.

IMO, "Pro Street" isnt "Stock". There has to be some realistic difference between the two.

Plus, you still havent addressed what class all the 1/2 ton transplants or purpose-built trucks should be. They technically dont qualify for your class as stated.

IMO, 5000lbs was too low a cut off point for trucks, no matter the turbo configuration. Maybe 5500lbs or 5800lbs would be better?

i have talked with team green and they are planning on running a few of these fuel classes to,just to prove a point.by the old rules Stuckeys would have had to weight 6000lbs ,they weigh 4850 now.i wouldnt count the dmax out ,last year we could have pulled the nos and ran right with all except Stuckey and the smith truck.the fuel class isnt the plan but will prolly hit one or 2 to make a point...

also 5000 isnt a cut off it is a weight minimum.as far as pro street for a while there has been a minimum et that must be ran to qualify.i think a good pogram could be worked out for all types,4wd,2wd,single turbo,twins,nos,ext...

Wondering about this.....

Does a 12v have a greater advantage running big twins than a Duramax? Or is there another reason?

A max effort grouted block Cummins can push 120psi of boost with twins. These aren't what you'd think of as street engines unless you live on a cul-de-sac, and only drive to the end of the street to get your mail.

Right now, nothing else can touch that, but only because the legwork ain't there yet. A Dmax at 120psi would clobber a Cummins in the power output department.

It was said that it was not meant for streetable trucks.
Anybody think this has to do with Gabbys track times just weeks ago, running a kit that anybody can buy, add some nitrous & run with purpose built twin trucks from Georgia.

I think a 6k class street legal class would be the more attractive & less costly to run.

Gabby's truck is also single turbo, daily driver, 10.3's on fuel only.

Gabbys truck

I think it has everything to do with Gabbys truck! They don't want a street truck going faster that there race trucks. I ordered a std cab, crank windows, rubber mat stripped truck to get it light and it still weights 6350 to 6400 with me in it. I could strip everything out of it but then what would I have? A race truck. Been there and done that and I don't want that. Jeff
