LBZ: Problem with a Cheetah

Friend of mine has a Cheetah on his LBZ, he noticed it sounded different he pulled the pos sensor and this is what he found............... he planned on attending a pull this Saturday but I think this is pretty serious and he isn't going to make it????

I might be crazy but that looks like a melted thermocouple in the first picture. Where did you say he found that?

That is most definitely a thermocouple. A vane sensor is a bronze looking single 25mm nut with a black braided lead coming out of it.

As for the turbine side of things, looks as if the studs got too hot and failed allowing the vanes to contact the turbine. You will need an whole new turbo from that damage.

Ok, now that I am not on my phone I can explain this, He told me last Saturday that his turbo "sounded different"..... Never gave it too much thought. He has been waiting on a new probe from Kennedy for his SPA gauge he called Kennedy because his new gauge wouldn't read the exhaust temp. He was told there was an issue and he would have one coming to him to replace that known bad one, he went to change it and that was what he found, the rest of it likely went into his brand new Fleece 71mm Cheetah!!!!! He isn't too happy right now.

Yeah brand new gauge/probe takes out brand new charger.........

HAHHA I screwed this all up trying to post on my phone, he bought a new gauge installed it, and then found that the probe was bad, he called Kennedy where he bought it and was told that there was a bad batch and that he would get a new one in the mail, he did went to install it today and found this. The probe was in the manifold.

i think the thermocouple broke off and ended up in the exhaust housing....that makes me sick to think that happened...
