I figured Id start up another thread on this.

CCSB 4X4, built trans, sleeves, yada yada, yall know the drill.

I'm looking for around 650hp. I like the vgt offerings because they are true bolt on systems. I do love the s366 chargers. Have one on LB7. I'm just not sure I'm wanting to go to that level of modding with pedestal and new downpipe you know, all that shit that rattles like hell after you install it:D. I know absolutely zero about the s400s and twin setups.

Basically I'm after a sub 8 sec ride. Really shooting for low 7s. I see lots of stock bottom end trucks doing better than that, just wonder how the driveablity is??

Enlighten me brethren

Low 7's is hauling the mail. 7.7 in my lly was 12.0 in the 1/4. Roughly 680whp.

I think if your wanting low 7's eventually, then an s400 would be the way to go. Has tons of options to upgrade or go bigger later. And setup right, will still be very friendly on the street.

If I was starting from stock right now, I'd go with the largest Danville VGT they make. Really impressed by some of his numbers.

Yeah tell me more about these s400s I'd love to try one out. I like the sound of a fixed geometry turbo better anyways. Mark will be doing the tuning so I got that covered.

Just get a drop in turbo from Danville. Many options for power goals, easy to install, vvt is going to be more responsive.

Low sevens and stock engine? It won't last very many of those. 7.0 is a 10.9-11.1 quarter. I don't think Trent Bell even got his there without blow it the first try.

I agree with staying with a vvt. I went from 4094 to a 467 and it feels like there's a bit more power on the top, but not near enough to have spent what it costs to go s400. If the stg2R was available I might have went with it in a 72mm version

There are a few. A guy post on here that ran 6.80 iirc. Heck there was a dude not to long ago running 8.0 on a stock trans. I would be very happy with a 7.7^^ so maybe not low 7s after all.

I hate the vgt sound though:( that's the bad thing about a performance vgt for me.:(

I just love the throaty lb7 sound.

I also read where the vgts are harder on bottom end parts. Because the torque comes in faster. Is there a degree of truth to this?

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys! My head is in such a warp right now.

And make excellent high pressure turbos when you do twins down the road. I wish I had a large VGT in place of my fixed GT4094R for a few reasons.

Talk to Mark at Danville. I have run a few of his VGTs and couldn't be happier. I am currently running his 72 in a compound setup and the thing is straight up ridiculous. I ran it as a single for a while as well and it will provide more than enough air to turn your stock motor into scrap.

This ^^ plus with his new vane set ups I think a 72 would be insane.
