Venders need to get their shit together on prices!!!

Was looking for total seal gapless 2nd ring set .040 over.
Shit the manufacturer is $150-200.00 cheaper than a nation vendor while on sale!!! Wtf?!?

Seen up to $150.00 swing with dmax std main/rod bearing pricing for the same dam part number!! In December i Called summit/jegs/napa and 5 national dmax performance shops and got clevite 77 standard basic bearing prices nothing fancy

Selling a part at substantially more than the MSRP is absurd, especially when a vendor gets a discount on said part!

Course if you only built one engine you probably wouldn't catch it..

It's amazing the price differences you can find on parts if you research the part #'s. The best price I found on bearings was Rockauto when I built my motor.

I have hung up on shops that i was i process of spending couple grand with, due to stuff like this

If you cant bore/balance a short block for less than 5,000.00 in parts, add ~2-2400 for rods, something is weong.
Labor cost excluded

Idk what all happened with Henry's deal with fass.

Ill post the prices i got when i get home Friday/Saturday.

Napa/summit/jegs where all within $5.00 of each other and all on the low end. I have a problem with a 200+% mark up on an item

Henry was selling Fass below MAP pricing, then cutting them a 2nd receipt showing MAP pricing so they could retain the warranty. That info is direct from Fass.

I've always said, "Diesel = Gourmet". A person should always price shop before spending money in this hobby. Why throw good money after bad?

Sometimes its still worth paying extra for customer service. Amazon, jegs, summit, and ebay cant answer motor build questions. Henry has always been shady. Screwed me over.

Customer service is incredibly important and i might spend a little more to support a business that will support me if i need help, but i'm not paying a lot more for it.

Without knowing the national shops you were talking to, I would be willing to bet that Napa/summit/jegs have a higher markup percentage than the shops you were talking to. Their purchasing power is quite a bit more substantial than any diesel shop in the country, and more likely than not, they get distributor pricing direct from the manufacturer whereas most shops will get their parts from a national wholesale distributor.

Henry wasn't the only one doing. FASS is being very picky on vendors now from this. They want some detailed info from you before they will approve your account whether that's through a wholesaler like premier or through fass directly.

usually they do 20% on top of regular cost. If you walk i and ask..Especially if its stuff they dont normally stock. I got no problems with that. Imo thats fair price. Not 2 times the coat

It's typical marketing. If they can get it for the price requested and they sell, why lower the price? Good thing none of these parts are monopolized and we can actually do a little home work to save a few bucks or more

If a shop grossly up marks 1 or 2 of 3 items (cam, rods.main bearings) that is fairly common and nothing special... why should i do business with them

There is/was shops selling these for ~250.00 they where 90-100 when i did my last engine in December

That's up to you and why we have a free market. Also the same reason these guys can price what they want.
