When I was looking at doing this I was going to run an aftermarket oil cooler and Oberg style filter. That way you wouldn't have to worry about not having a bypass and blowing canister style filters.

Are you having over heat issues? none of our pullers run oil coolers, and most on factory D-max oil pan/factory capacity. we watch oil temp on all of them during season and at the Dyno. They are all Full Filled Blocks as well. we run the Socal High pressure oil pumps with External Relief and a Remote mount Moroso Oil Filter. warm engines typically run 80psi on dyno and down the track.

I hear ya! it gets a bit scary knowing everything is filled, but simple is always better on these things. we do have a Duramax that pulls in our club also that is solid heads and block, Running a Dry sump system so a little more oil capacity, but no Coolers, and they have made Double hooks in one event. Have the leaf blower handy in the pit rig in case you have to make a rehook! LOL
We have always considered running a coil of line thru the Ice Water Box also if heat ever became an issue.

BTW wherr are you guys getting you pressure at? Stock location through OEM sender or have you tapped in somewhere with mechanical?
I've tapped in on #2 journal it, reads 15-20psi higher then OEM that's between 4/5 mains, Was doing pre filter/cooler.
Truck does 75psi @2000rpm with 200° oil temp

I have the return fuel run thru alum pipe thru the bottom of ice tank, I could always switch and run oil line thru it instead. Fuel never gets warm anyhow on it

Im expecting a quote on a dry sump kit today about 4-5 o'clock. I can text you what it would cost. I imagine pricey, maybe to pricey for myself. But I'm very curious about doing mine that way

I used to run mine through an ice box too, I got rid of off also cause it didn't help

That's a Nice Setup Dan, i like your Guys' Dry sump Pan. i need to get a hold of you for a complete kit on a Build we have going together. What Brand is the Dry sump Pump, or is it something you guys developed? Are you able to build it with an Extra Stage to use for a separate Turbo Oiling System & tank?

Yeah your right. I am going off memory from 2 years ago. I think fuel temp on inlet would be like 110 but then still get up to like 190 at the end of the run

I'm not sure in a max effort performance world, but 190* hurts power and definitely shortens life of injectors in the real world... I've seen enough JD and Denzo test data to know this...cooler Fuel NEVER hurts performance or life, so it can't hurt IMO, even though we haven't ran our Fuel through ice in last 3 years, we did first 2 years though...

Ours is setup to where the return fuel 1/2" hose just lays in an aluminum pipe that crosses the entire width of the ice box. The pipe would be completely submerged in ice 99% of the time. To the touch and with a heat gun it doesn't really make a difference. I think to make it efficient I would have to plumb it so the fuel or oil is in the pipe. A coil would be even better as someone mentioned

you were able to measure temp of fuel in the rail after the Pumps? i would think after being compressed after the pump there is a lot of heat in it, cant imagine inlet temps of 40-50* +/- would have a huge effect on it! interesting info..

Other than fuel temp does affect when particulates/additives drop out, the density of fuel is directly related to BTU content, and also the strength of molecular bonds.
