Yes all injectors did test within dealer specs but still had a bit of a knock. 5 and 7 had two lowest compression readings. I was there and watched truck ran beautiful after replacing the injectors and after a few minutes of idle the knock cam back and so the shut down 3 and never made difference so failure on injectors part. I've dealt with these guys and owner is personal friend 15 yrs. Last thing they wanted to do was throw a bunch of parts at it. Chase one problem and found another. They shake their heads in frustration as much as I did. Witnessed the injector failure myself. They say it's rare but does happen. More so on 6L ford but have seen it on duramax. Frustrating as hell!

Might have them inspect and clean the crank position sensor while at it. Check the damper for any wobble. Kinda sounds a lot like my buddies broken crank that I swore was electrical problems till someone noticed the damper walking all over the place...

Injectors don't just come and go, or start fuel knocking for no reason. Electrical issues can cause half the engine or 4 injectors to shut down at once. But typically that sets a good code. The lack of codes still points to fueling related prob.

How did the shop determine the injectors were only spraying out of 1/4 of the orifices? Did they ever validate the rail pressure is doing what it should now with new FPR?

Not certain how they determined this. I'll ask in the morning. Yes they tested pressure. I thought it may have something to do with fuel pressure relief valves. But they say tested to 25k and no concern.

All this info I'm relaying is second hand too from a NOOB duramax owner. So, sorry but I may misinterpret some things. I question them on everything and I have taken questions and concerns from this post. So thank you very much for all the help.

Hope they get it fixed

I'm curious about the spraying out of 1/4 of the nozzle thing. Some things just don't sound right here, but I could be wrong. Hope it all works out.

If you're that confident in them why are you here asking us for anything?

Well, no offense, then why are you here asking us about your issue?

Non taken dude but as the first message says I'm asking for any help. It's not like I'm taking the info I get here and throwing it out the window. I'm passing on any info to the guys at the shop. You Google this problem and it seems very regular, but answers are few and far between as to what is the causes.

So any help or info is appreciated!

Got word why the #3 calved. The mechanic tried cleaning it up and obviously should have left it alone.

OR there was massive amounts of corrosion at the fitting of the high pressure lines, and when they determined that it was a good idea to try and only replace one injector, the other 3 on that bank were left with an inlet full of rust.

I love my signature.. pisses people off when I talk about fixing their trucks.

Good luck bud, sorry you've spent a ton on a money on a new to you truck. Coulda been cheaper with a competent shop. Or your trolling

Well said Corbin. If he only knew half the story he'd change his attitude about you & your truck.

Sorry if I'm implying any sort of attitude. All is good. I'm absorbing all info and yeah I think the shop messed up on a few things according to what I've read here but at the same time I'm at the mercy of them as I stated I'm 3200km from home. So I'm rolling with the punches.

I'd be more than excited to sit down and buy you that drink if I had the opportunity Corbin. I don't doubt you know your stuff. Cheers!
