Any body have a steering wheel mounted button with an air bag and active horn? The hand held is getting old.

If I recall correctly, at one time Ben was talking about making some sort of box to turn the factory steering wheel button into controls for aftermarket devices like this.

Its still one of those projects that is a work in progress...I have it working on the bench/prototype form, but unfortunately not enough time to finish it and put it into production. The main thing is its difficult to gauge the product interest and demand.

Selling one to you, and 5 of your buddies isnt anywhere near enough to justify putting other things aside and moving this project to the front unfortunately...no offense. Id have to sell 50+ to recoup the $$ in R&D. :(

Some day if I have enough money to hire people to run the day-to-day operations of my business, so I can get back to just designing and what I ACTUALLY like to do (not the annoying mundane repeated stuff), Ill revisit all of these projects that I really want to release.

Would be pretty easy to wire up a relay to switch between a horn and a nitrous switch.

Ben, I've always been interested in utilizing the steering wheel controls and have been meaning to ask again on that project. I think you should post up about it and see how many actual customers you could have lined up, especially if you can integrate your lockup box and tapshift module into the buttons as well.

While it's definitely not ideal
I think the MacGyver in me would find some bubble gum, a twig and a short length of string and temporarily mount it to the steering wheel somehow...you only need it there for a few seconds while driving in a straight line, right?

On a side note, I have a grant eveloution steering wheel in the Dmax, its pretty much just high density foam moulded around a stock steering wheel frame, I think with the proper motivation and patience, one could mount a button in that wheel pretty easy...

Edit:
LOL questions answered... My connection is moving so slow several posts are coming in before mine process

The problem is that you post up an upcoming product or market-interest-feeler, you get a million people drooling over it and all psyched on the idea saying "OMG OMG OMG SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY LET ME KNOW WHEN ITS RELEASED"

and then I get it finished, mass produced, tell everyone its ready for sale, and get nothing but crickets. And then Im out thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours of R&D time, and a whole pile of widgets sitting on the shelf the only 3 people end up actually ordering.

Totally understandable on that. I know I would be one of those three at least haha.

Too bad my trucks the base model with no switches. I've done the hole horn setup and ran with it blazing down the track, oops :roflmao: I haven' seen any aftermarket ones maybe someones got a pic?

I would take a handheld anyday over the momentary switch I have mounted on my dash

Handheld will be my next upgrade. :thumb:

Im wiring my lockup box to work off a Nitrous handheld switch, heres a quick question in regards to that, Not to hijack the thread OP, But those of you using both lockup box and nitrous, do you activate one before the other at the track? I feel like locking the converter then nitrous would raise cylinder pressure way up.. Could be way in left field here..

I run my box on Auto Mode (BT Dieselworks box) and activate my nitrous as soon as the display shows L.

As long as the pills not too big you can spray before lockup. For example a stock cam with a huge single and a little spray to spool is ok.

TTT, I'm wondering if I can weld a button plate, to my stock wheel, by just pulling back the grip?

Dont see why not, you could actually pull the whole cover off, wire the switch and have the wheel retrimmed with new leather! I've got a stock wheel if anyone was interested ;)
