What are your thoughts on the recent events with the NHRA administering letters to cast members on the show "Street Outlaws" saying that if they race, they will be banned from NHRA events and sanctioned NHRA tracks?

Didn't know that show was actually real. The cars are badass but figured the reality aspect was like that lizard towing show.

Its not real. Its a "sanctioned street race"

It would be impossible to set up a street race at that level with out getting busted by cops.

Its not the fact if its real or not, its the image the show puts forth to the general public. What's his face spent all that effort on pinks to get racing off the streets, just to have some rich phucks from the desert twist it back around.

Do you think anyone listens to/ reads that disclaimer at the beginning of the show???

Me too. Kind of tough to set-up a bunch of light plants and block a street off for hours without attracting attention.

The NHRA ****ed up big time with this. Regardless of if it was a right thing to do or not, they are gonna suffer the social media monster that the street outlaws show knows all to well how to use.

I think the show is great, and since there are no other drag racing shows on TV, I shall take what I can get. A bunch of down to earth guys that actively post on YB, vs John Force and million dollar top fuel? Yeaaaaaa

So..
Am I to understand that if John Force, Erica Enders, or Tony Schumacher (or someone of that caliber and notoriety) ever got caught street racing while he had an NHRA license that he would be suspended indefinitely. I don't think so.

If NHRA did indeed write the letter then all they did was help the Street Outlaw show IMHO.

I like the show. Sometimes I get a little tired of the entertainment aspect of it, but the cars are pretty bad ass. I also wish they would show a race without cutting it so much and splicing in different shots.

It is a pretty interesting show to me. I'm pretty sure we all know the cops are not that stupid that they wouldn't catch them if it was on a public road. I am certain it is done on private property . NHRA sending letters to anyone about what happened on their on time is complete BS. At some point groups, people and government need to stop trying to control someone else's life or the way they do things.

Some of it is stupid, however if you look at the mph on the setup street races it's upward of 130-150mph,and I think it's 1/8 mile,I think. That's getting down.

I think it was 1320 or speed society who posted on fb showing how they actually set it up. Cops shut down the roads for them and the producers just set up a bunch of lights.

I believe the major issue is you can clearly identify NHRA member stickers and numbers on a few participants’ cars. If the drivers or producers cover up NHRA “stuff” then there shouldn’t be future problems.

The timing of this letter is interesting considering there are rumors of a spin off, set in the Great Lakes region which has a large NHRA membership.

In my mind this show was a bunch of pro street cars that were tired of not making any money at the drag strip professionally on the weekends and decided to call up few people to make a group of them to race on TV, thus making some serious $ off a show across the nation.
