Pat, in regards to avmethods, is there and easy way to tell if you have one running or not?

I had two processors bad, or not properly setup or who knows. I removed two of the opteron 2356's and have a better tpf with only two and 8 cores. Still not so good but

Starting 8 threads
Making 2D domain decomposition 4 x 2 x 1
starting mdrun 'VSD in POPC and water, neutralized'
174000000 steps, 870000.0 ps (continuing from step 172000000, 860000.0 ps).

This is a 6701

If I'm doing the math right and adding a little guess, it should take about 19 hours to complete this WU.

A 6701 is an large SMP job. Your TPF is suitable for trying bigadv. The following are bigadv jobs:

2684
2685
2686
2692
6900

You can find ballpark performance data here: http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=14757&start=0

A donor made a list in Post #2 to get a feeling for how long they take and how much bonus is made.

IIRC, you need a TPF of about 57 minutes to make preferred deadline? Not sure about that.

Interrupt the client (cntl-c), then:

fah6 -oneunit -smp

The job will stop when it completes.

Now restart it with:

fah6 -smp -bigadv

Make sure you have a Passkey or you won't get bonus, and I think you can't even load/get a bigadv job without it.

If your operating system does not report 8 or more cores, it will load a SMP job instead.

Thanks Pat. I'm also a bit unclear about the -bigadv and -advmethods switches, I read where one cancels the other or could.

Do you use the -advmethods switch or click the square for that in the console? Just curious, thanks.

Should we be using a passkey with all our clients. Will it help out points wise with gpu as well.
I haven't seen any bonus points for GPU. I've only seen then for SMP work. Uni-processor and GPU seem to be point for point so long as they are completed on time. I'm sure someone will correct me.

Wow! We hit #76 on the top producing teams, with over 2,000,000 for the holiday week.:thumb:

Now I need to turn some stuff off for work tomorrow, and actually "play" with my new computer. After the current jobs finish, Wicked Witch is going into hiding. Congrats Tom and Kat for hitting the 1 million mark last night! That was one of my goals, and Kat hit 1 million just 10 minutes before midnight. Tom hit at about 10 PM.

Congrats Kat and Tom. :D

Thanks again Pat for your help. Finally got a 6900 to try out. Not doing real good at the moment but at least I know where I stand with it. About ~50:00 tpf.
