Hey friends:hello:, I am just getting started in the wonderful world of sled pulling. buying my first ever duramax next week. its a 2007 2500 HD classic. has 371,000 and stock as far as tuning. it has upgrades as the injector pump is a CP3 twin and a airdog lift pump. is there any other upgrades that I would possibly have to keep in mind before the next season starts?

First Welcome to the forum, I recommend getting some not stock tuning in the form of EFI live from a respected tuner and go from there. Find the sled pulling section and read read read and search search search. I would get your feet wet pulling, before you through a bunch of money into your truck :thumb:

Thanks, I was kinda thinking so my self. so far from what I have gathered is the weakest link on the chevys is the tie rod ends are easy to bend going on down the track. other than the sleeves and setting the front end of the pickup down is there a good way to prevent this from happening

I have seen duct taped wrenches on the tie rods and they didn't break or bend although I would recommend you just pick up some sleeves for about $50-60 they take about 30 mins to an hour to put them on and if you count your turns removing the tie rod ends you will be pretty close to being aligned when you put em back together. i would not do any 4wd launchs or sled pulling without sleeves at a minimum!!!!

Did I read your post right? Twin cp3s without tuning?

That's what I was thinking:confused: it may have had the stock tune when you bought it, but there's a reason for adding a twin cp3, and most the time it's not for the added security of if the stock pump fails, usually it's for delivering more fuel:D however, judging by the miles, it could be the guy used the truck to haul stuff, had a bad batch of fuel, added the air dog and twin cp3 for good measure to hopefully reduce future downtime, check to see when/if the injectors were changed as well

Which bring me to my next question, 07 with 371,000...miles or kilometers?

How much are you paying for this truck, if you don't mind me asking?

ok I work for a company that had bought out the company that had the pickup, the reason they had the airdog and cp3 was cause of the issue with low fuel pressure while pulling 23,000 lbs all around Wyoming and Nebraska.

Sounds like they band-aided the problem instead of fixing the low rail psi issue. If it does actually have stock tuning.
My recommendation if its gonna be a puller, don't waste your time/money on centerlink braces. Get a straight center link and some sleeves. A straight centerlink is the only real fix to the chev steering issue when pulling.

I'm not saying I won't, but I haven't had any issues with Tony's centerlink brace so far. takes all of 10 mins to install. It's been holding up to 35's.

Cp3 in the valley could have been getting weak so they just added another to correct the problem. They could have tried the lift pump first with no luck so then they threw the extra cp3 on.

I got ya. I am not sure the reason that they went that route. all I was told is that with just the two things that have been added I shouldn't have to do anything else to the pickup. kinda curious what its pushing as for torqe and hp. all I know is the damn thing will move and gets up to speed without pushing it

i pulled all last yr on atp tunes and i had np with braces and sleeves. never once towed in.. but i do notice my tranny is getting weaker.. so i would recommend a built transmission specially if you have twin cp3s.

I will say I was super pleased when I had an all season brace, switched from cognito braces to it.(twisted up cognito braces) I just like the idea of fixing the centerlink rotation completely, instead of having to 'brace' it.

Sleeves, brace of some sort, lower the front end, play with tires pressure, rear spring clamps at least or traction bars, rear bump stop blocks, weights, some decent tunes, and hope for the best and see if you like it. Find some brush pulls to get in.

True, I just hate how the front tires scrub out with a straight centerlink. On a truck like you guys, I'd already had one on there. I really like the design of the kryptonite stuff. It's suppose to keep the factory geometry for steering. :thumb:
