Yep, back to a body swap. LOL

The deciding factor is long term use of the truck. Even if the the pulling thing doesn't work out, it'll be a nice riding street truck. And I know more about setting up the IFS for pulling than a thrown together sfa setup. ;) so it just made since to me.

The newer chassis is much better & already setup for dmax, etc. Just have to put the body on it. :D

I'm meeting the guy with my front end parts later this afternoon.

You mean where I thought the "step" was too high on the 06 frame? If so, I was mistaken previously. I've remeasured and I believe it's going to work just fine. The 06 chassis is an extended cab whereas the 83 is a crew cab BUT the old crew cabs aren't as long as the newer crew cabs so it's going to actually fit nicely I believe. :thumb:

Until I actually sit the cab and bed down on the frame I won't know for sure exactly how I'm going to do it but as it stands now, I'm going to sit the bed as far down as I can on the frame and I think that's going to mean the cab will sit about 1-2" higher than the frame in order to line up with the bed.

Hopefully I can get to this in the next month or so.

Wow this is changing a lot. Crazy. Good luck with it and can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm actually lookin at doin this to a my street truck. Its a 64 chevy c10 with a 540. I'm now lookin for a 06-07 rclb roll over or something and goin to body swap it because of his thread. This got my wheels turning big time. Can't wait to see your truck running.

It'll be full 06 chassis. AAM rear with mini spool & SCS axles. Front IFS with welded spiders & a manual lock in switch to lock in pass side axle.

Nope, still no shop. Maybe now that the ol lady finally got a job, I might have a lil extra $$ to throw at it. We've got a mountain of student loan debt though & still needs a masters deg (she's a teacher) so idk if there'll be much extra play money or not.

Hopefully it'll really start coming together now though. :)

any updates on this? I've been following your build for years hoping you would be able to get it done. My dream is to do a body swap with a 67-72 chevy body onto a newer frame with d/a

I'm hoping when the white girl heads north to her new home I can get a fire under Mitchell and get this thing done!

Maybe we can start a "Motivate Mitch" thread on 1-1-12....

Garrick, I am looking forward to competing against the ole girl up here, but I am sad to hear that you sold it. It's too bad we are so far from you and Mitch, I'd love to hang out at a pull with both of you guys.

Merry Christmas to the both of you. And I agree Mitch, it has been long enough, time to get that thing in front of a sled:thumb:

Another change. :D

I've all but given up on having a pull truck (just won't likely ever have the extra funds required to even do decent here in KY) but be danged if I'm giving up on seeing a dmax under the hood of this thing!! Since I'm not going to focus on pulling as much, a more streetable approach is where its headed now. I'm abandoning the ZF6 in favor of an Allison so that the wife can drive it if need be.

Meet donor truck #2

What do you all think of this? My initial reaction is I LOVE it but I need to see what the rest of that panel the mirror is bolted to blacked out from the side.
