I think I read in a magazine that the 4r100 doesn't defuel on shift, and that's what was slowing you down with the Allison correct?

I keep hearing more and more guys in the 6.4s and such go with that tranny also

Congratulations, I'll update the 10.99 and quicker list today after you finish to see if you get any quicker or faster. I also am curious about the 4R100, why that tranny and not say the duraflite?

Congrats!

4r100 is the diesel industry's best kept secret. With the right converter and tuning its hard to beat. The diesel vs gas bell housing also has a different bolt pattern.

Thanks guys. I made 6 more passes today and the trans and are still working like they should. This weekend I ran a total of 9 times. Four 9.4, one 9.3 and four 9.2. This new converter has a place in the diesel world. I went through 6 torque converters this year. None of them I was able to make more than 3 good passes on them before they would stop locking up.
I talked with Suncoast when I decided to go with something other then the Allison. I felt the duraflight was not a drag race trans and it was heavey. Then I talked to Brian BTS and he was a great guy to talk with. He insured me his trans would work and the 4r100 is lighter and shifts quicker then the duraflight. Beans Diesel runs the 4r100 in the old Chevy, H&S ran it in the white drag truck and now its in there lightning. If those guys were not breaking them I didn't think I could, but I thought wrong. First time out with the trans I broke the input shaft. Brian said send the trans back and I will make it right. He had a hardened shaft made and that's the last time I broke that. Next time out I broke the output shaft. Brian said send it back and I will make it right. He had a shaft cryo treated and sent me the trans back. I have not had a problem with it since he did that. I went through 6 converters this year. Every time Brian said ship me back the trans and I will go through it. He has had multiple sets of clutches in the trans as well as multiple new pumps in the trans because every time I smoked a converter all the clutch material would go threw the trans and Brian didn't want anything but the best in this trans so we could work through all the problems. I think I have sent the trans back to Brian 6 times this year and not paid for shipping once, their or back to me and he has not charged me a dime for all the parts he has put into the trans. Most of the problems have not even been his fault but he still has been fixing it for free. He is a drag racer himself and wanted to work on all these problems so no one else will have to go thew them.

Brian is a stand up guy and bussy as shit but always had time to talk with me.

Sorry so long and if anything is spelled wrong, I'm on my phone.

To add to what Brett said about the 4R100 vs. Duraflite, I have done both and I like the way the 4R100 drives better than the Duraflite. Seemed to be a much more user friendly setup and if I ever go away from the Allison in my truck I will follow in Brett's footsteps as well and get mine from Brian. After all the convertor issues that we have seen this year with Brett's I was having some serious second thoughts about ANY auto living in a full weight truck with this kinda power. Brett's a good 1200lbs lighter than me so if he was having issues I knew I would be wasting my time and money but now we are seeing some light at the end of this tunnel! Hope this helps Ken!

Congratulations!!! I'm really looking forward to see how this converter will hold up. Always excited for working out the weak links in any drag vehicle!!

Thanks guys. So far this is the most runs I have made on my big tune without the converter slipping. Before I would run one run on the big tune and the converter would start slipping on the next run. I now have 9 runs on this converter and the last run was my fastest. 7 out of 9 of the runs were on my big tune.

There are quite a few heavier trucks making more power that run Duraflites so what made you second guess ANY auto holding?

I'll agree about the heavier and more power but my issue with it is how they make their power vs. their times. Nobody with a Duramax/Duraflite has gone quicker than Brett has regardless of weight. When Brett was doing his research on the subject, all the info was pointing him in the direction he went. Guys with Duraflite's running this hard are still having convertor issues. If it wasn't for the fact that Brett still street drives this truck then we wouldn't even be having this conversation as he'd have a clutch and Lenco and be done with it.
