Probably around 400hp & 800tq

Ditch the edge and get some efi live from one of the vendors on here. Without a built trans you'd want stock trans tunes.

You might want to consider getting a lift pump also.

i was thinking of a lift pump. what would be a decent priced basic lift pump for my set up. the only other big performance mod im thinking of doing is possibly a water meth kit for when towing the boat and or toy hauler.

i actually really baby this truck. it goes in for regular services and just hit 70k... just had a full service 2 months ago front rear diffs full trans service radiator flush new serpintine belt and oil change. fuel filter gets changed every 4-5 thousand miles. and every few tanks ill throw in some marine two stroke oil.. other than that..ill put in diesel fuel additives from lucas regularly. just want it to be reliable and last along time its paid for and i really dont feel like paying the massive price on a new one hahaha. cheaper to throw money into this bad boy instead and make it perfect. :thumb:

A lift pump is a good mod, a good price for one is about $680 iirc, and is hardly a "performance" mod in your application, and more to provide a solid stream of clean fuel to the CP3 (high pressure pump) slightly limiting it's duty as well as preserving the injectors, when you start making 550+whp, then it's "also" a performance mod...

Your edge on level 3, running thru those 35's and stock gears, the added weight of the lift and wheels/tires, I'd bet you're feeling about 60hp at the wheels, max....so maybe you'd dyno (guessing here) 320whp, maybe

In comparison, a good efi live tune for a stock trans will get "you" close to 360-380whp pretty easy for max effort, although the horse power rating is similar for level 3 tunes, efi live is superior to edge, hands down, efi live is a full program vs a "chip" or "piggy back" tuning devise that is really only fooling the ECM into seeing a greater fuel demand than whats really needed, and that's not efficient or good for the longevity of your truck

Water meth is crap, stay away from it, I've been lookin into it for a while, and while an H20 meth kit "can" provide good results, the results are sporadic at best. Along with the addition of a completely separate system to maintain, you're also adding another system to possibly fail too, so weigh your perceived benefits

If you really want your truck to last as long as possible, leave it stock:hug:
Otherwise, succumb to the power and forfeit your wallet and savings, children's college fund and retirement monies, and build something memorable :thumb:

Fwiw, ditch the edge and get some EFI Live tuning :woott:

Oh yeah, hey-

Good info guys thanks. so with the EFI Live what would i use as a monitor? i like that i can monitor multiple things on the edge that i have. and who would i go to for best pricing for a EFI live set up? i keep hearing that that is the best out there..

Water/meth works great in a correctly setup system. However I wouldn't necessarily say it would be the best choice for where you're at. Like the others have said, ditch the Edge and get some real tuning.

Run the edge until you build the trans. Edge has good tunes in my opinion. But efi will get you more hp.

This

Is probably the best advise so far

Run the edge, build the trans, get built trans efi live tuning. I'm not going to assume you can't just go get it done, I don't know what you can afford, but for most of us, in the time it will take you to research getting the trans built and actually get it done, you tend to learn and change your goal and ideals.

Bottom line though, if you want to have notable power, you have to have a transmission that can handle it. If all your looking to do is tow more efficiently, and if don't plan to use a "max effort" tune, stock trans EFI Live tuning would be better than your edge programmer, but your edge should be just fine.

You can even have your ECM tuned with efi live and just run a single tune capable of towing, and that produces more power than stock.

Lift pump and some efi live get my vote! If your not planning on going big/fast with your truck there is really no need for a built trans when you can get good tranny safe tunes via EFI. Just my opinion!

Also welcome! And honestly as stated 300-350 on level 3 tune with your edge!

A stock LLY is going to dyno roughly 245-255 at the wheels, and the edge adds 75 at the crank so about 55 at the wheels. With stock tires you would be around 310 at the wheels, but with your 35's you have basically brought it back close to stock power. Build the trans, get a good lift pump, and then a tune. With a stock 5 speed on 35's, I would be careful trying to put much to it.

lots of great advice here. yeah im not looking to go huge right now. just good towing power and a little umph here and there when i want to play around. as far as trannies go i was looking at goingg to PPE in orange county or to OC Diesel in huntington beach to have them beef it up. would rather have and not need than need and not have. for this truck it will have a vey mild build. just enough to make it fun but healthy. now my daughters truck on the other hand will be a fun one. she will be getting my 1st car which i still own a 93 2500 suburban with the 454 4x4. looking at doing a dmax allison swap. and full interior upgrade. just need to find the right place to do that.

Educate me please. On a 350-400hp truck with stock trans what's the benefit of efi over edge?

IMO a lot. The drivability of the edge isn't the best on tune 3 and higher levels. It has horrible timing in lvl 4-5 causing high drive pressure and timing rattle. The edge doesn't manage the torque very well and will hurt the trans in the long run if not defueled in the config options it has. Ive had lvl 3 limp several tucks on stock trans. Another reason is having the truck tuned where the customer wants it. Some people want a more sensitive throttle then others. The tuner can also adjust the torque and what rpm he wants the fuel to come in to help save the trans since hes rollin on 35s. Also with efilive and being a LLY the turbo brake is very nice when towing. Custom mileage/street tunes are very nice too.:thumb: With a reputable tuner like Tony, Kory, Rob, ect I think efilive would be way more beneficial to the OP then a edge juice with attitude. But like I said that's JMO.
