So have just over 10 k on this motor and am running into an issue. Truck was pushing coolant pretty bad. Cold at idle with the cap removed it will rise and push coolant out of the tank. Never added coolant, so it wasn't overfull. I assumed a gasket or a cup, pulled the injectors no cups came out. Pulled the heads both gaskets look great. So I'm thinking either a cracked head or a crack in a cylinder. Any other ideas???
Too add more info this happened after a night at the track and some highway pulls. Boost is 80-85 total and egts don't go over 1400. Block is partially filled, unported heads.

I was going to double check them, got the heads to the machine shop to have them pressure tested.

What Kind of gaskets and studs are you using? That kind of boost and you might need to upgrade to the 625 series or H11 on the studs.
Those thick gaskets have a tendency to fail. Thank you for the new thread link, the new Mahle gaskets you got, are they also grade D? And are they produced by Victor Reinz for Mahle do you know?
You were able to get the mahle gaskets from GM? Ironic, because my local dealer asked me last week what I could give them for pricing on the Mahle ones...
So not exactly sure what the cause of the catastrophic failure was but cruising down the highway two rods tried to exit the block. Holes in both sides. Oil pressure was 65ish psi 190* oil temp, no more than 10 psi of boost, egts around 800. Towing a small enclosed trailer at 55mph in traffic.
Sorry to hear, have you get it tore down yet? I'm looking at doing the 1/2 fill in mine. Just curious on why yours failed.
Nope it won't happen right away. In the process of moving so until that's all taken care of its just going to sit. This motor made it just over 12,000 miles.
I've assembled over 30 motors all run hard and mine are the only ones that have issues like this. I just don't get it.
Damn man that sucks to hear. I feel your pain. Seems like it's always your personal stuff that has the most issues. If you need any help let me know.
