like the rest of the project, one step forward and two back. now im fighting rail pressure issues.

thought the original was bad, took belt off and hooked up the reg and idled fine. swapped controllers worked alright now its doing it again, took belt off etc again but this time rail psi is still too high. Now im trying to decide if my new pump might have a sticky reg. or if i have a wiring issue.

Well didn't want to start a new thread but I've just about got all my parts to put another motor together. I broke my crank driving down the highway a month or so ago. The block, rods, billet main cap are all still good. One of the pistons got scuffed by the counterweight. So I'm taking the opportunity to build it more stout once again and went with forged pistons.

Almost everything is at the machine shop already. Once the pistons get here they can balance it and check the block and heads and hopefully get everything back to me so I can get it put back together soon.

What did you do on a cam this time? I see you had the other for sale. Did you change to something geared more towards compounds?

That cam was spec'd for these turbos and the rest of the build, I'm undecided what to use this time. I had considered a stocker....

Should have everything in the next few days, get pistons coated and I'm ready to assemble. I'm ready to have my truck back

Thanks, I didn't install my ported heads this time, and as I was hoping they were the reason I was having smoke issues. I had assumed they had increased port volume too much and had taken away too much velocity. This motor is soo much more drivable.

Same thing i noticed. These heads are waaayy more ported than the stage 2 socal heads were originally, but David had to increase the exhaust size in order to reuse the heads. Too much intake porting is not what these motors need

Port valume has very little to do with a motor that is direct injection. If it is more drivable than it would be somewhere else that it's helping. Congrat's on getting it going.
