New and slightly confused

Hey all have a 2006 6.6 and I have no idea if it is lb7 lly etc and have no idea how to tell. Currently it is siting not running as it ran fine then when I shut it off it wouldn't start. Turns over but no start. Changed fuel filter and was just told it needs a new fuel pressure regulator. Any thoughts

did you prime it? if you did then try pumping the primer button while someone else cranks it. unless you have a lift pump, then it would be a waste of time

No codes. Several months ago EGR code but cleared and not returned ran great prior to this

can you crack an injector line loose and see if you have fuel coming out when cranking?

I'll try that. Haven't yet thought to do that. Does the FPR sound logical

When you primed it, did the primer get real hard? May have a slight leak and pulling air. Seals in the fuel filter head tend to go south.

K. I'll see if I can find someone in the area. This is a stock engine. Is the LBZ a good engine to stick with. Got 190k miles. First problem ever with it

It's a very good engine. I really like mine.

I guess I will start finding what to do to it next after I fix this. Only issue is mpg. Sucks always been around 12-13

That's low. Mine is about 16 city. Do you have emissions testing in your area?

No emissions testing at all. It has always been this low since new

Ok. I would block the egr and do pcv reroute. Clean the MAF. Use only donaldson air filter. EFI Live should help too. When I bought mine w/55k, drove it about 4.5hrs home. Got crappy fuel mileage. Bought a tuner, because I had no idea about EFI Live, and the higher settings yielded better MPGs.

By chance did you or someone else maybe put unleaded gas in? When I bought my truck the dealer I bought it from didn't know it was a diesel and put gas in it. I didn't know he did it either and drove it about an hour to the house and then went to start it back up and nothing. Lets just say the dealer wasn't to happy when he found out he had to shell out a couple grand to fix his mistake
