There has been several replies here about a compression test. It baffles me that this is ignored time and time again. IMO I would not run that truck. Sounds like it has a major knock. I would seriously doubt something out of a bottle will fix your issues. Without knowing a compression test numbers or leak down test numbers we are throwing darts blindfolded.

Based on the video shown, do you think its wise to run this motor at any length of time with that hot shot injector cleaner stuff? I got some delivered, just curious if I am going to do more damage than its worth trying to band-aid the issue

I would try and find the injector(s) leaking fuel into the cylinder first and fix replace those if not all 8 before trying to clean them. But if you want, I would not run it above idle and not more than about 10 minutes. If it doesn't look like it's going to clear up then shut it off and order some new injectors from LDS and be done with it. Oh, and as mentioned above, a compression test may be a good idea before doing any of the above

I haven't ignored the suggestions of a compression test or leak down test.... The truck is not yet in my possession (still sitting at a shop) ...waiting to get it home and do all of the above.

It may be wise then to wait on posting further questions until you have it back and performed the tests outlined. Like others have mentioned, without any actual data we're all pissin' into the wind so to speak.

Ok, finally got around to doing the compression test....here is what I got.....everything looks to be in good health.

1: 360
2: 380
3: 370
4: 370
5: 360

8: 370

What do you guys think I should check next?

Pull the glow plugs, unplug the fuel pressure regulator and pull the FICM fuse. Crank it over any see if you have any fuel coming out of the glow plug holes.

I still think you should just replace all 8 injectors and start fresh

I agree, but before I pull the trigger, I want to make sure that the injectors are the issue - remember, I was told these injectors were newly put in this motor when I got it.

Here is a long shot question....do you guys think it could be a bad harness?

The reason I ask is because I've had it off a few times through all of this.....and each time it seemed to get more brittle/crusty. I had it off originally to do the head gasket. Then again to swap the motors. After replacing the head gaskets on the first motor, I had a grounding issue to the FPR. I bought a new pig tail and spliced it in, and the issue still occurred. I ended up splicing a ground wire straight to the pig tail and grounding it to a bolt, which fixed the issue. Who knows if maybe I pinched/pulled/stretched something else in there too?

I see there is harnesses on ebay from parted out junk yard trucks for $200-$300. Should I entertain that?

Have you tried OHMing out your harness wires yet?

I have no problem trying this....just need some direction. I am not an electrical expert. Positive and Negative is as much as I know....ohms, amps, etc is where I start to get retarded.

Any good articles or youtube videos you can recommend to do this? I have no problem doing the work, just need some direction.

When you pulled the glo plugs did you happen to take notice to their color? Any of the oddly colored from the other? Were any wet?
Can you get us any fuel rail pressures? You need a scanner to do this. Compression looks good so it looks like we are headed into a fuel delivery issue. Before we jump to injectors let's make sure the cp3 is doing its job and not getting weak

I will try to get the glow plugs back in and put the intercooler pipes back on so I can start it and get a fuel pressure reading. I dont have a scanner, but I have a cheap bluetooth ODB2 scanner with the Torque app. I believe I've seen the fuel pressure reading in there before.

Here is a picture of the glow plugs. I don't recall any being wet when I pulled them, but the truck had been sitting for 2 weeks prior to pulling them.

Ok i scanned and logged the truck. It knocks like crazy and ramps up from nothing to supper loud. The knock doesn't start right away. Here's the logs.

Well, Here's the codes anyways. I don't know how to attach the EFI files. I guess I need to zip them first. I'll work on that now.

They were dead even at 5500 psi. Couldn’t read the balance rates, they all showed zero. Suspect another problem there. Throttle position was 0.0%. Fuel rate was all over the place from 0-10+mm3. Possibly from the rough idle?
