Been thinking about it for a while now.
With current setup.. I turn in 5th
1900@70 3.73:1/32" tire
2100@70 3.73:1/30" (OEM)
2100@70 4.10:1/32"
2300@70 4.56:1/32
My 99 3500 HD had 4.63 and ran 2500rpm @70

Figured reduce engine load my EOT would drop as well

Engine falls on its face below 1800rpm especially noticeable with heavy loads..shows up better with the. Bigger charger as well.. Naturally

I'm having 4.44's put in today. I wanted 4.30's but the shop wouldn't go aftermarket on gears. Hopefully i like it, other wise I will have to get taller tires. Probably on 19.5's.

4.30 will give you the same final drive ratio in 6th as running in 5th on 373

Ordered a flexplate Monday local junkyard said that it was on the rack to be torn down... Come today about 930 when their truck showed up it wasn't there.... Called the place, between 0830 Monday and 930 Tuesday it "disappeared". So I spent 3-4 hours calling junkyards then finding one 1.5 hours away.....

I thought it was just 4.30's that they don't make for the front? I guess for once I'm glad I have 2wd.

Engine is in the truck runs when you jump the starter; makes good noises...
Still cannot see anything via DLC grounds are good.
Can't start via Key..
JD been busting butt on tracing connector/grounds. No smoking gun on any. Module.
We have exhausted pretty, Much everything we got at the shop. Seams to be a LAN/network issue.

When you say cannot see anything via DLC, do you have power at the DLC? If not, check fuses (I believe DLC runs off radio or cig lighter).... No activity of any kind when key moved to 'start'? Bad starter relay? Bad ignition switch? Some random convergence of things? Obviously, you have a good engine... good or not, that won't affect the key's ability to start the truck. If there is *NO* effort to start the truck with the key whatsoever, I'd suspect either bad starter relay or bad ignition switch.

Everything works untill you try to either read ecm/TCM start the truck.. No LAN ran gauges while running can not see any modules via the DLC.. Yes it has power..
All fuses pulled and fuse bock checked grounds checked.
No one is talking.. ECM/TCM/BCM wise and you can't talk to anyone via DLC.

Check the fuse for the lighter in the fuse block. Also powers the DLC.

The BCM hangs off the low and high speed busses and is directly off of JX221 junction block under the dash. It is also the gateway between the low and high speed buses. If the low speed buss is down, the engine will not crank.

If you break any of the links listed below and the bus becomes active, there is a problem past where you broke the link.

TERM<->TBCM<->EBCM<->VCIM<->DLC<->BCM<->GPCM<->TCM<->ECM(INTERNAL TERM)

If I were to guess, I would focus on the connections to the Glow Plug module. You would have been all over it when you were working on the driver's side of the engine.

Lastly, there is a wake up signal that comes from the Key switch to the BCM that then passes it on to all the other modules. Possible problem, but since the engine runs, I think the ECM is awake already.

This a LBZ, isn't it? Assuming yes, I'd be more suspect of the ignition switch... Short of you severing the wire Lomb through the firewall completely, I can't come up with a reason for it not starting with the key being anything else... Or my be an ECM issue.... But either way, nothing I can imagine would connect to your popped engine... Random convergence of bad luck?

Glow plug module is definitely a good place to check as it is incorporated in the data link. Also there are terminating resistors included in the data link. Not sure on which pins to check but you should be able to ohm out specific pins on the obd2 port and get a specific reading. I believe there are 3 readings that will then add up to an overall resistance. If anyone of these were bad it would allow to much "noise" on the data link communication.

Glowplug module stopped working shortly after I rebuilt the engine 20,000miles ago
Chris I'll check it out.. Did you have same symptoms as ibdo? Trans in limp, no dash, and no vehicle when you hook a scan tool to it?

Some stuff worked. Radio turned on, cluster showed "service brake system" with no gauges, couldnt see any modules but obd had power. Turn the key and not even a click.

It might not be the exact same wire, but thats where I would start.
