was directed to this forum and was told this is the best one with the real experts.

before i registered i could read the other forums but now i cant see them while logged in so i assume this is a spam filter of some kind or need a amount of posts etc. so hope posting this is ok here.

my truck is a 01 lb7 bone stock with 135 k and stock i mean the same size tires on it that it came with. only things done have been routine service and i change the fuel filter every 5k with oil service.

and has a problem. ..po093 code after no rpm higher than 2000 pulling a load.

only time it does this is pulling a load but it does not do it every time.

just once in a while.

new fuel filter & new fuel pressure regulator did not correct the issue after a dealer said that was it.

same thing , once in a while wile pulling will do this and throw the code.

i tried a different dealer but after the 130 $ diag they said i had bad injectors but could not tell my why they were bad and then i told them every oil change i have no fuel in the oil ........and my friends shop that does little basic service has a scanner and the balance and return rates were near perfect ( from reading online what they should be ) and then the service guy said the fuel injection pump was bad after he went and talked to someone else after i gave him the info.

i realy cant find anyone in my area that knows d-max so i hope someone can help me save money and repair this without the guessing game and throwing expensive parts at it.

sorry for a long post but hope i gave enough info for my issue.

thanks in advance.

This isn't anything on the site that stops you from seeing the forums either logged in or out.

The only thing limited is 25 post to sell things here.

BTW

:hello: and :welcome5:

Also moving this to hard parts :D

so no code .po093 ?

if it is the pump can't i measure volume or pressure to confirm it is failing ?

another site i posted on said add a lift pump and it will fix this condition also ?

a lift pump is a lot cheaper and a lot less work than a new fuel injection pump

the only way injectors could cause the p0093 is if the return rates were really high . my money is with the cp3 being bad , yes a lift pump could possible "band aid" it but it will get worse and will need to be replaced anyway even with the lift pump . as far as ruling out the injectors a " bottle test" needs to be done. Look around there are used CP3 pumps that pop up for 3-400 bucks .

welcome to the site :hello:

You need to have someone take tech 2 and look at desired fuel pressure and actual fuel rail presure while driving and getting into it some. Also they can control and ask for full fuel pressure from the cp3 and see if its putting it all out should ask for 23,000 if it drops below 20,000 it will code

TrentNell;247544 a " bottle test" needs to be done.

thank you for the advice..... but can you either link me to a thread on this awesome forum that explains a " bottle test " or tell me how i can do it ?

you guys are simply outstanding .

i am so glad i was referred here .

there are a lot of duramax sites it seems but you guys actually help a new guy with a problem rather than talk down to them like some others .

i will let you know the outcome after my visit to the shop with the snap on .

while i was online with you guys i called him and he said it has freez frame date when the code was stored and has the parameters of why it was set.

i only hope it is not the pump but either way i know i found a site that will help people like me , ... maybe i should referr the dealer guy here .. LOL

thank you
