I'm not heartless, I grew up on a farm, and worked many jobs where animals were the source of income. Profit and loss steer my decisions when it comes to animals. I just wish it made my decisions with my truck.

Here's the thing - there's a HUGE difference between a pet and farm animals that are raised for food or wild animals - I have NO problem killing deer, turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, coons, groundhogs, geese, ducks, etc - these are not pets or 'family', but I could no more kill one of my cats than I could my daughter. Our cats are like our children, and we won't just 'throw them away'. PETS should not be considered disposable. If one doesn't want to treat pets as they would family, they probably shouldn't choose to adopt them in the first place. I have lost three cats, the first of which I chose to put to sleep and it was the worst, hardest thing I have ever done. Something I would much rather not repeat. The last two died peacefully on their own terms in the comfort of their home. But then this is my opinion, so maybe it's worth what you paid for it ;).

Wow this thread is interesting. Turns out this site is full of assholes. I thought Mike and I where the only ones.

"Kill the cat"= asshole

"Its a pet and part of the family do whatever it takes to save it or you shouldn't have one"= asshole

Probably the only non assholes are Evan and the guy that brought up the loan thing.

Agreed. How do you think most of them get the money to build this sh1t in the first place. Heartless F!@#$S who dont loose a moments sleep over anything.
I Spent 5 grand to save my Rott from bone cancer he lived 2 months longer and quit eating or drinking. Worst day of my life to put him down. 2nd to hearing my daughter say she tried to commit sucide.

LOTS people would disagree on the asshole part lol but stand for I what I believe in whether the masses do or not and pets hold a special place in my world be it mine or someone else’s. To each their own if the cat doesn’t matter cool but if it does to someone else it’s just as cool so get over it.

In afghanistan we would have competitions to see how many dogs we could put down.
we didnt even count puppies. seriously they didnt count

this one time one of my team sgt's popped one with his mossberg, turned out it was sitting on a nest of a newly hatched brood that went scattering, one, two, three, four.
One new guy with a ray of hope on his innocent face says 'look sarge one is getting away!' thinking there is a silver lining and life will go on.
Sgt. says 'thanks' bam. ' almost missed that one.'
He had a cool montage that he put at the end of fox and hound, probably 60 in a row.

I didn't care one way or the other, but used to zero my thermal pretty regularly on them as it is hard to do on 'normal targets'

i do have some tomahawk kills as well.

My in-laws had a service dog that was part of the family and when it was time for the dog to go, they asked me to shoot it in the head. it is less suffering than letting it go on in pain.

If you ever lived on a farm or know where a burger comes from, it isn't a big deal.
the animal is either serving a purpose, or minding its own business, or it is suffering, or it is food. where on that list determines my actions toward it. respect life, but every pet has a lifetime healthcare budget limit. and replacements are cheap.

Probably the greatest showing of being a bad ass or tough guy I’ve ever read. Very impressive read for sure if you are 11 bragging to your friends at lunch. To say a helpless animal kill is a accomplishment is an understatement and to ever dream of something as cool as tomahawk kills on puppies is something that can only be dream’t up by someone with the skill sets learned from too much time not getting enough ***** living in moms basement playing way to many online video games.

Appreciate the quote. =)
to each their own, when they are digging in your burn pits and tearing into your hooches at night or destroying your traps and wiring, they aren't 'helpless animals' they are disease carriers. maybe you have different skills than i do but survival of me and mine was paramount i did everything necessary, i had to do more than just post roosevelt quotes on my homepage.
A pet is different but know when to say when, i was telling my boys last night about my pets growing up and they asked what happened to them, did they die? my answer was 'yes all things die. appreciate the time you have"

You’re welcome :) doing what you have to do because of your situation and keeping it to yourself and bragging about killing puppies on a post about saving a pet as if it’s impressive in any way to anyone aren’t even in the same ball park. Lots of people had to do more then post quotes on their home page and you’d be the first online or anywhere I’ve seen bragging about something like that. It goes back to the to each their own with what some people find is an impressive enough accomplishment to brag about while others wouldn’t of brought up having to do that if they had to.

Evan, this one is just for you.
When I was over there i never questioned the 'meat' i was served, but there were no cows around? When they served you meat they were giving you their best so you ate graciously. Very likely some cats and dogs mixed in with goats etc.
I talk about meat and things and animals as they are, because it isn't like losing a family member or a friend, i find it kind of insensitive to compare the two.

If it is just a private conversation, take it to PM...

And what’s that have to do with bragging about something like you were  you keep your logic and I’ll keep mine. I apologize for not being impressed by your story but I’ve got a lot of work to do and you should work on your tomahawk throwing incase the neighborhood puppies get out of hand and you get call to put your elite skills to use to eliminate the intense and dangerous threat. As I’ve had to say before if you like to continue the conversation look down at the floor and tell it what it you have to say because it cares about as much as I do to discuss this any further and I won’t

I'm not going to comment whether I think it's right or wrong, but it's easy to sink money into saving a pets life or giving them a second chance. After all, they're more loyal and loving than most humans.

I grew up on a ranch in Idaho, lots of life and death. Hunted and fished most of my early years as it put food on the table when we didn't have much money. At some point I just lost the desire to kill stuff. And honestly, I like critters more than most people anyway:rofl:
But I do see both sides and I would never throw shit at someone for wanting to save an animal.

I have many friends that went over seas to fight and its funny, I don't recall any of them bragging about killing dogs, I'm sure they did but its not something their proud of I guess:confused:

I would've just had the kitten put down and found another at the Humane Society, but thats just me. $2500 is a lot of money.

I have multiple family members that did multiple tours each and none of them talk about it either.

donated. good luck hope all goes well for the cat and kids!

Thanks! They appreciate it.

Between the go fund me and also a facebook fundraiser they are near halfway, and hopefully the family will and should be able to figure out the rest. They have got the original X-rays and are taking them to another vet for a second opinion.

Sorry to cause such a ruckus on here between everyone, i just never imagined people would say some of the things that were said. Figured if people didn’t care or had nasty things to say they would just ignore it and scroll past, guess i was wrong. But everyone has different views and opinions and thats alright.
