My Upper Engine Rebuild/Refresh

I was asked by a member on here in another thread of mine to post some pictures of my engine bay after a recent rebuild/reassembly so here goes nothing. This thread will be a little more in-depth than just the finished pictures as I figured at least a few members might be interested in seeing some progress/chronological pictures of everything.

The starting point: after breaking an injector hold down bolt off in each head and struggling to get them out I decided to just tear everything down and, in the process, try and make the engine a lot more eye-catching than the oil, coolant, and fuel soaked mess which it started out as.

Here is the furthest I had the engine torn down, one head completely removed and the other down to the valvetrain, luckily ARP headstuds are reusable so I was just a fresh gasket away from throwing the head back on.

While everything was apart, I deemed it a good idea to remove all of the nasty firewall and hood insulation and clean everything up to my liking, nothing too crazy, just some simple green, rags, and detail spray.

[FONT=&quot]For the color scheme, as you can see in the pictures above, a simple gloss black and dark gray combo was chosen. Here’s a closer view of not only the gorgeous powdercoat from the crew at HSP but also their 2-piece billet y-bridge, which has that huge flow profile and is much easier to access the lower bolts during installation.

 It was also decided somewhere along the way that every single bolt, nut, injector hold-down, bracket, fuel rail, injector feed line, coolant line, and hard fuel line needed to be zinc-oxide plated black. Why? Because you wouldn’t want a bunch of dirty fasteners holding all these nice clean parts together, or at least that’s what I convinced myself.

A few details on what was actually changed performance wise, I felt that Mark’s Stg2r would pair well alongside some brand new injectors w/ Bosch Motorsport 65% over nozzles and a fresh LBZ CP3. I threw in some pics of running one of my injectors on the flow test bench and flowing my CP3 on the pump bench for anyone who might find that kind of stuff interesting.
