Got my trans back last night. It basically needed a full rebuild, C1-C4's all the seals were distorted from the excess heat. Hopefully it holds up forever now. I have a rediculous amount of money in this stupid transmission now. I wish I just left the truck stock and was still running the Edge. Those were the good ol' days everything was so much cheaper!!!!!!!!

C1's C2's C3's and the C4's were toasted. Supposedly the C2 apply piston was broken, had a chunk missing out of it. The C3 apply piston has a breather hole in it and was supposed to be at 12 o'clock and mine was more like 3:30???? While it was burning up the clutches it was running all kind of shit through the rest of the trans and filled the pump and spin on filter with a mud looking fluid? The fluid looked good when I drained it??? So I guess the few problems it had took out most of the other stuff too. The trans was supposedly full of crap and he had to disassemble it and start from almost new again. It sucks but atleast its fixed now. I could have bought 2 stage 4's for this price.

How long would it normally take for an 01 to relearn? I used the TECH 2 to reset and made sure it was in fast learn.

1/2 of a day , it will take a bit the 01's learn slow , but its a good thing once its learned up . Just make shure to do plenty of stop and go .

Huh? I have been driving it off and on since Monday night, I haven't been able to go for very long rides but it seems like every gear is fine except going into 4th it slams hard into gear.

How many C2 friction plates were installed in this build?

I think he said he may have added one, but I'll find out, he also said he puts more pressure there.

Any more than 7 frictions is a mistake which will cause a nasty tie up. I have found a wave steel plate necessary to cushion the apply.
I don't see how or why he would want to put more pressure in the C2 clutch as it runs off full main line pressure and is overkill to begin with using the Transgo shift kit. Modding the C2 piston as per Transgo instructions increases the apply force tremendously. Now remember this kit was designed for use with stock clutches ( 6 frictions ) that only use 50% of their friction area. Now we install a thick apply plate over the piston which redistributes apply force and we get to use about 85% of the frictions and we add more frictions to boot. This tends to cause violent shifts into 4th gear and applies the C2 clutch before the C3 can release. Not good.
I tame down the C2 and do everything I can to strengthen C3 and make sure C3 will release as fast as possible to clean the shift up.

I'll ask him to see what it is he did exactly, he rattled off so much stuff he does that it doesn't say in the "Suncoast kit" so maybe I'm wrong about adding another clutch in the C2 pack. Maybe he was referring to the C3 when he was talking about mods??? He did mention a thick apply plate too.

Well, the Allison finished learning last night, shifts are all perfect now, very crisp and on time!!!!!!!!! Shifts better than it ever did. Temps are staying between 160-180. Hopefully NO MORE issues!!!!:happy2:
