See alot of people would say their own is better. Mine is not tested I am not an accomplished fabricator but it's cheap and I help people when I can

Jordan,

You've got skills man, so don't let anyone knock you down. You have accomplished more than most have, in a much shorter time. Keep it up.

Looks good! I've got a suncoast brace and it doesn't look much like it. Keep practicing and the welds will get better. Your welds there look pretty good! Don't cut yourself short

Thanks I do appreciate that. I've only welded for probably a total of 8 or so hours. I never weld on anyone elses stuff other than these few braces so I really tried hard to make them sound welds.

i wouldn/t worry about those welds, you did a good job. I am wondering though, did you use flat bar on the two long legs?

Yes I did. I realize the Suncoast brace uses solid square stock. The rear of the brace where it connects to the mount is set on an angle and boxed so when twisting force is applied it doesn't twist like flat bar. I honestly don't see the point to a brace without a cross strap. They vibrate and twist pretty easily. But then again I'm no expert and could be utterly wrong, time will definately tell

nice job man,

i made one a few weeks ago when i had to fix my leaking transfer case, but it was easy for me cause i have my old tranny so i just bolted the tcase to it on the garage floor and fabbed it up there.

i too agree about the cross brace and i added the cross brace on mine. seems there is too much flex without it.

i know the suncoast brace has proven no broken extensions housings but the housings that were braking was that from power? or bad ujoints/ motor mounts/ tranny mounts etc? and the brace is just masking those issues now?

I think it's a mix of things. Wanna know how much movement there is in the drivetrain under just daily driving? I had a mild clunky shift and I thought it was my fault via tuning. Tcase brace and traction bars cured the clunk. I think lifted trucks with stock drivelines get too much movement and between those two my suspension is happy. Crazy right?

my extension housing has broken once with the brace installed and once without it. :( I've also, most recently, busted the bellhousing. None of which were because of power or hotrodding. At least not at the time of failure. Visual inspection of the engine and trans. mounts are fine, not sure how else to check them??? Truck was stock the first time and I think it was cause of a bad ujoint. Since then, u-joints have been changed pretty reg. and have never shown any slop.

I'm at a loss as to whats going on. This is over the course of a few years and nearly 75K miles.

sq. tubing will take care of your twisting problem, just food for thought!

I have to go buy that way accross town in bulk is the only bummer. Also the twist occurs at the mounting points hence cracked housings.

It really does stiffen it up before its bolted to something but is not needed once the ends are bolted to a fixed point. If the angles are correct there will only be a pulling force (elongation) on it and bracing will do nothing for that;)

Mine broke once.

I had the driveline balanced (it was way out of wack) its been good since. That was years ago.
