HI Guys, Seems like my tranny temps are creeping up. By that I mean its running hotter and getting hot quickly. I do regular maintenance, and I have installed Mikes cooler. My cooling stack is clean, I just washed it out and inspected it. I also just changed my coolant. Ive ordred another batch of transynd and am going to drop the pan and take a look. My question is I once saw Mike posted about a honeycomb type filter at the radiator, and he suggested it get could clog up and needs to be cleaned. I cant find any other info. I don't see anything on utube either. Do you guys have any pics or information. For some reason all of my previous posts and my signature has been removed only my avator picture remains. Says I joined in 2015 but I joined this site around the time I bought the truck and have purchased products from a couple venders over the years. I have 40,000 2010 GMC stock. Yes the camper is on most of the time so its under some load but nothing like what you guys tow and haul.

The honeycomb is the actual internal makeup of the trans cooler in the radiator end tank. If you have mike's cooler and still getting hot, I would definately take the lines out at the radiator and look for clutch material inside the cooler.

Did, you recently change the spin on transmission filter? My transmission shop says to use original equipment filters as some of the aftermarket spin on filters flow less and can result in a hotter running transmission.

Spin on has no effect on trans temps. It runs at low pressure ( 125 psi max ). Your trans shop is wet behind the ears.

So your saying that restricting the oil flow with a poorly made filter is ok? Several threads on here about the bad filters restricting flow.

Sump filter will restrict flow to the pump and cause heat; not the spin on filter. The threads you speak of were about the sump filters. If they weren't, I would have corrected them.

Doesn't the spin on restrict flow to the cooler?

Why are you trying to argue when you have no idea how the Allison works?
Do you not believe me?
Don't push this with your stupid ideas. This forum is way above this crap.

Asking questions is arguing? If you don't like the question then don't answer, after all I wouldn't want to inconvenience you.

The cooler thats built in to the radiator?? Is the top connection the return to the tranny or is it the incoming line from the transmission. I removed it and it looks clean inside. I used a mirror and looked inside. I can see a honeycomb looking screen in there. No I hadnt changed my spin on in a while. But I did put a new one on today.

If Mike tells you something, it's how the shit actually works or is made. Just saying he's built more of these than probably anyone in the country

The metal line you need to pull and check at the radiator is the lower one. Pull the passenger side plastic fender liner out remove the metal bracket that holds up the air intake and remove part of the cold side intercooler pipe that should give you enough room to work with to see what's inside it you can also remove the fitting off the radiator to clean it better if need be but be very careful doing that

If you want to follow the lines yourself the Allison case in clearly marked on the side next to the fittings "TO COOLER" "FROM COOLER" with the bottom being "TO COOLER"
