My Allison is Getting Hotter and Hotter

I found this Allison flow diagram that shows the main filter (spin on) getting its oil from the cooler and sending it to the pump. Seems pretty straightforward no?

Fluid filtration is provided by two filter systems. A suction filter, located in the sump, provides general protection to the entire hydraulic system by filtering large particulates. A spin-on filter provides full-time protection for the control solenoids and multipass protection for the entire system. The spin-on filter is externally located on the converter housing at the lower left front of the transmission.

you would be wrong, spin on is not the main filter.

You just don't give up, do you? The Main filter is the sump filter in the pan. The control main filter is the spin on filter next to the control main regulator valve in the picture.
The only thing straight forward is you can't read and oil diagram worth a shit.

That is how they label it in the Allison manual, main spin on.

The spin on filter is also mounted on the same manifold as the cooler out and cooler in fittings
