extra oiling is never bad, with that x beam rod. i would let curtis what is your plans and let him give you suggestions on what is needed
I will be running DPR rods when mine lets up. PM Jeff (stingpuller) I believe he is running them.
Look back at Pats thread on his crowers in the engine that let go. The only flaw he found with them was that there was premature wear on the wrist pin bushings. I believe that ther are some threads on DP with other rods having wrist pin wear issues. To me the extra oil galley in the DPR rods is an awsome addition. Correct me if i am wrong but in stock form the only way the wristpins get oil is from the oil jets and in these high HP engines the extra oiling is welcome.
i think they are a good idea. i wouldnt not see a problem using those rods. he used these in boats that see alot of wot, high rpm and the wristpins need oiling. i think these would work excellent as daily driver higher hp builds.

Not saying it is the case or not but the argument against the oil passages is it removes material that some think *may* reduce the strength of the rod in that area. Just something to think about.
Pros and cons to everything. Guess you just have to figure which one you think would be a more likely reason for failure later on. I personally think the oiling (or lack of) would become a bigger problem than strength of the rod but that is purely a WAG on my part.

i could be misremembering but i think the carrillos can be special ordered to have an oiling feature too.
After talking to guy today he said if done right it doesnt hurt the strength all that much after what he has seen with his LS1 experience.
Im kinda starting to lean towards curtises rods.
With the prices from guy today and a few other figures im looking at around $7,000 with me building it. Not as bad as i had thought.
Curtis was in canada with his family and will be emailing me tonite with his opinions and what he has for a price for me.

Apparently I'm one of them. This is the 3rd time I've had head gaskets cause problems with the base ARP's.

Curtis quoted me $2850 for the xbeam rods and $150 for the drilled bearings 3 months ago, idk what the price is now.
YES- curtis halverson(dpr) designed them, and howard's rods mfg them. anyways what do you think of the a1/ats h11 headstuds? you think they will hold up better than the standard arp headstuds?

I talked with Howard at SEMA two years ago with one of them in my hand looking at it, IIRC, and there is a magazine article about the Howard parabolic rods that is over 2 years old I thought. No biggie though, I just didn't know DPR was selling them.
Right now, I'm still using the normal ARB bolts, but I'm testing a new head gasket design.
He must not have wanted you to know, he designed them and tested them in his boat then redesigned them and tested them again over and over until he finally released them.
