Mine actually isn't too bad with the stock upshift/downshift values, a little under the charger but not bad. It's great for mpg too, if I drive extra slow I never make over 2-3psi. I got 22.4 hand calc mpg driving this way from phx to vegas.

I have spent a lot of time with it, and apart from reducing shift defuel there isn't much to gain if the defuel is setup properly.

Many people will say "my truck shifts great with no defuel". That's because the tune is incorrect.

Sure reducing defuel and shift timing can make it feel like a better quicker shift, but at what risk? Clutch wear? Tie-ups?

That is like saying that stock ECM tuning is as good as it gets. I do no tune to fix ECM tuning. I tune it to make more complete truck as a unit but what do I know since I am not recognized as anyone anyway. You have your beliefs and what works for you so I will just leave it at that.

You don't have to be recognized anywhere for me to value your opinion. I also believe that one should never stop learning. I do believe that a stock shift is an ideal shift and I strive to make trucks shift exactly the way they do fully stock regardless if it's a 400hp truck or a 1000+hp truck. Sure there are ways to squeeze a little better ET out of them by modding the TCM tune in certain fashions, just the same as increasing timing will net you a little more horsepower. For me it comes down to how much of that is necessary? How far are you going to push these values on your 500hp rig to get another .05 or .1 out of it? In my opinion is just isn't worth the risk. Of course on trucks that are only meant to race that difference can mean getting the win, so you go there.

Very weird that two different people would ask the exact same question within days of each other, thats why I asked. My recommendation is still the same.

You sound like Obama.

Now Michael there is no need to bash our president who was rated the 5th best president in history by Americans according to a Democratic press release.

What they leave out though (like all politics) is the rest of the story.

10 Presidents tied for First
15 Presidents tied for Second
17 Tied for third
Jimmy Carter was 4th
Then NObama.

I almost cracked 11s on a stock TCM tune FWIW and FML how did this thread come to this? SEARCH OPTION MOTHER F'ers. Must be 1000 threads already about tuner this and that comparison BS.

Aside from moving your shift points up and down and playing with TCC; what do you guys think you can do with the Allison? The only big change you can make to enhance the Allison is control the amps to the A trim and B trim solenoids. This is the only way to clean the shifts on a clutch to clutch trans. Can you guys do this with EFI? If not, you are all :jerkit::jerkit::jerkit:
I have been in a truck with an Allison engineer and his laptop. It was amazing what he could do.
Now I am all ears. Let's have it experts.

I am still trying to learn a lot of this. Been doing a lot of reading. It seems like to many people are getting the wrong convertor for there set up or changing there set up without doing the right convertor with it. So then try to make it work with tcm tuning. To me it seems like the wrong way to do it.

One of those people was me. I tried and tried to get a 1058 to work for me, and it never did. Didn't want to hurt the C1's so I went the Goerend route. Wish I did a long time ago.

Same tuning. :thumb:
