Cant compare tuners if you have not ran both of there tunes. The OP knows they both are great tuners. So leave it at that.

I can't say anything for novo but I had tonys tunes and on my stock charger it was insane I loved it and on a stock charger I wouldn't worry bout tcm tuning they r two of the original beta testers

Tranny tuning is very well worth having stock charger or not. People who don't have their tranny tuned really don't know what they are missing. There is a difference with and without it.

If you don't think there is any benefit from a properly tuned TCM. Then yes, you are an idiot.

When I had another tuner do my truck .My trans shifted like crap.
Had BobO do my tunes with Trans tune it was a night and day difference on how the trans shifted. On a stock trans and stock turbo.

Key word is Should. Not all trucks will adapt to the tunes the same.Another reason if you can is to get it tuned In person.

At risk of coming off as an a**hole or an idiot, I'm going to have to disagree with you.

I just tuned a 07 LBZ lifted truck this past week. There was a tremendous difference made by tuning the tranny in this application. In fact I learned some very useful information that I can apply with tuning really big charger/ injector setups. I tune every tranny with the ECM unless the customer really doesn't want it. Some guys just don't want to do it. I would challenge you just to take some time and experiment a little with it and I believe you will be pleasantly surprised with the results you achieve by doing it.:thumb:
To the OP I am sure either guys can get what you are looking for. It will take some time of your part to provide information via logs for corrections to achieve
your desired results. Work with who you believe will provide you with better access.

I have spent a lot of time with it, and apart from reducing shift defuel there isn't much to gain if the defuel is setup properly.

Many people will say "my truck shifts great with no defuel". That's because the tune is incorrect.

Sure reducing defuel and shift timing can make it feel like a better quicker shift, but at what risk? Clutch wear? Tie-ups?

I run a 100% stock tcm tune and 100% stock defuel in the ECM and my truck has never shifted better. Even after driving easy for a week, it will click shifts off going WOT after that week. No tuned tcm tune or modded defuel has made it shift so well. In fact, trying to run less defuel only makes the 3-4 shift buck and prior tuning long ago killed my c2s and c3s from bad tuning and defuel.

I'm not trying to start a tuner war I'm posting this for a buddy of mine. He has an lbz just purchased a lift pump and had the trans built. He has narrowed it down to these two tuners. He is just looking for some opinions on these two tuners before he calls. Any help will be appreciated.

She asked over on CompD, didnt she? Or is "blackmagicwoman" someone else?

I'll say what I did over there. Both are good tuners, couple of the best. They've both been tuning since EFI was in Beta. Figure out your goals and what you want to do with the truck, and then talk to both of them and ask their opinion on what to do. Go from there.

on a setup like mine or steves or anyone else with a larger single tcm tuning is very important that being said I had stock tranny tuning on my current setup and its a world of difference before it was a lazy pig on the highway now it will rip from any speed but I wouldn't trust just anyone to tune my tcm due to the risks steve mentioned above
