So why exaclty do ya want the psi to drop 100 psi? Wouldn't drop in pressure let something slip easier?? Or am I way off? Lol

Ya I'm getting that feeling. Just wish I would on know about before I put in the JR. Oh well more secret squirrel stuff from vendors that don't ever send the parts you order. So I would still be in the same boat it I had known and had a vendor mod the JR.....:rolleyes:

Oh ok, I was reading there site and said something about psi drop. Is that what it does without the valve? With this valve will it keep it at 255psi?

The Transgo valve installs into the back of the pump. Disassembly is required. ( bell housing removal and pump disassembled ). If you are running big hp and play hard or drag race or sled pull; you do not want any pressure drop when TCC occurs.

I'm also not sure what/who you are complaining about here but the converter flow valve that we are talking about is not part of the "Transgo Jr." kit and requires you to remove the trans, remove the bell housing, remove the pump from it, and disassemble the pump to change it. For those that don't know Transgo is a company that makes transmission parts for all kinds of transmissions. They originally had what we now call the "full transgo shift kit" for the 5 speed which included the valve body mods and the mods to the C1/C2 module; then they came out with the "Transgo Jr shift kit" for the 6 speed since GM/Allison upgraded the C1/C2 module and it no longer needed modified. The A1-LU-BST or A1-LU-BST-04 converter flow valves are not included in either shift kit, since it is not actually for improving shifts. From the factory the converter flow valve drops 100PSI from main line pressure when the TCC is active. The converter flow valve from Transgo will drop less pressure, but it does still drop pressure. As Mike said if you are running BIG power and play hard at the track and in front of a sled than you don't want any pressure drop.

My mistake I misunderstood. I though there where mods that could be done to the JR to help keep the PSI up.

It would be nice though if when a question like Josh asked was answered instead of us getting blown off. Not that I expect the "gurus" to give us there secrets, but at least tell us something. I'm just getting sick of getting blown off. When if I was given some info a vendor could end up getting some business because of it.

Go back and read some of your posts. You directed them at me after I spent a bunch of time explaining how everything works. You threw me into the pile of vendors. You came off harsh in the transfercase fluid thread and you did it again in this one.
Josh got his question answered and got instructions from me on what I thought he should do. I feel he is quilified to do them. Most people are not and if they miss a step it will be catostric and I will get the blame for bad info.
So, I don't post it.
Now go back and read my posts here and tell me what other vendor posted this info more clearly. What didn't you understand? What did I miss?

I see what you're saying, and thank you for explaining it further. What modification is needed for the transgo valve that you mentioned earlier?
Couldn't you run the ATS main valve and the Trans-go conv flow valve together for more pressure to the clutches?

Yes. The ATS main valve spring raises main line pressure, as does the shim that comes in the SC kit. The stock converter flow valve drops 100 PSI from line pressure when the TCC is active - the trans-go converter flow valve reduces that pressure drop. So the converter flow valve will not add pressure, it will just take less away when the TCC is active.

Dozerboy, I wasn't trying to blow you off - I tried to clarify everything for you so that you would know you weren't shorted in any way when you did your transgo jr. As Mike said the people that have the need and ability to do the additional mods have the info now.

What is the engineering logic behind dropping PSI during TCC lockup from the factory? Is this for comfort? longevity? creating a weak point to protect the internal hard parts? :confused:

You don't need pressure that high when you're cruising. The load is moving and there much less strain on the trans. Pump does not have to work as hard, possibly better mileage. ( speaking about stock trucks )
High line pressure is needed for high performance to help clutches hold better.
Pressure also wears parts prematurely and can break things. Running 300+ psi in the Alli is good for racing but will wear out the front rotating assembly ( front drum ) even if you don't beat on your truck. They will ring groove badly and will require drum replacement on next tear down.

mike is that why i tend to see higher trans temps than others around here. it is not hard for me to hit 200+ degrees even with mid 70's ambient. been like this since day one.
