Guys,

I haven't driven my truck hard at all since I got all my mods done. I drove it this past week and on the max effort tune I'm hitting 1600* before 70 miles an hour. Not comfortable with that but I'm curious is that normal or do I have something possibly going on? Mods are up to date in my signature. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

With a stock turbo....yea normal.

Not necessarily. Cant say I'd ever seen 1600* except toward the end of a run down the track. @70mph on the freeway isnt normal.

53, if you can still get tuning updates from Steve, you might just want to send him a log when you're running down the road. He may have to make some adjustments in the tune to help you out.

Mine runs hot on the big tune, but what can you expect? Are you building heat/boost first or is this dead stop to the floor kinda thing.

If he's talking WOT hitting 1600 by 70mph and is still on those 37s or 35s, I see nothing out of the ordinary there. My truck would peg a 1600 egt gauge FAST on just the stock turbo and big tune

Didn't really matter whether I roll into it from a slow speed or stop and build alittle boost. Obviously it got hot faster with boost. I guess I'm just confused how anyone can make it a quarter mile tuned like that without hurting something. I just played with it on the street alittle and it made me nervous.

I'm sure 37's don't help but 4.56 gears should offset that somewhat. I will datalog it though and see what Steve thinks.

If that's just how it is what are options for dropping temps? Turbo? I expected better egts with towflows.

Thanks for the input all.

I'm not acutely aware of a stock lb7's limits but 1600 seems more common than I thought. I'm not going to hurt anything pegging that sometimes? Normal driving temps are not bad at all.

Any recommendations for a turbo upgrade?

If it was me, I'd drive it. You're not me and you should be prepared for it to break. I'm not saying it's likely, but as soon as you start modding you're always taking chances.

Normal, my LMM would peg the 1600 mark, as high as my evo2's would read, at about 80 mph as well and I had a 68mm turbo. If you don't like it have it turned down a bit...

Did you have the factory downpipe or was it aftermarket?

It had S&B intake, 3" hot side pipe, egr delete, 4094avnt, 3"DP, 4" DP back, lml manifold. Pretty much evey supporting mod for a 68mm vvt thats worth doing. I never saw a drop from anything I did over stock, it did pull better up top though but not any cooler...
