I don't know what the weather was like where you all live, but here in north east Texas, the weekend we just had was as close to perfect as you can get, sunny an 70s with a light breeze. I really enjoyed mowing after church and then hanging out on the back patio with our neighbor friends drinking margaritas, listening to music, talking, and just enjoying being outside.

This time last year we were in the 90’s. We are just now trying to hit 60’s and 70’s. Yesterday I fired up the offset smoker to do some ribs and I started in a t-shirt thinking about sunscreen to within a couple hours wearing a jacket and a beanie nestled up to the fire box. PFA…

Yesterday we had our first two days that felt like spring. it was about 68 degrees in the Sacramento area. This morning it was 38. More rain and snow supposed to return to California in the next week or two. Seems like winter here is starting all over. The trees don't know what to do. This time of year we are normally in the mid 70s with maybe a high 50s to low 60s in the morning. We are now something like 275% snow pack average in the Sierras. So much for global warming 😛

You know I hate you right now, right? 😀 I'm still wearing long johns and a turtleneck at work. At least I can switch to my vest now. I'm getting to the age that I hate being cold.
My friend from Austin sent pics of the huge crayfish boil he made at his cabin this weekend in pfugerville. I replied back, "now why didn't we do something like that when Paul and I were down there?"

Took the fam to Moab for the first time ever. I’ve been multiple times but they have never gone with. Had a blast over the last few days!

Typically I’m just out there to rock crawl but we did some site seeing instead this go round so the kids could get out and explore more. Did Gemini bridges to long canyon the first day. Short day but that’s alright since it was a 8 hour the day before driving up there. Second day we did 3D trail which had an old halfway post for stage coach travelers in the 1800’s, a hiking trail that had true fossilized dinosaur bones in the rock as you hiked (really fricken cool) and about 3/4 the way threw, Erin hopped in the driver seat and drove. Third day was Hell Revenge. Found out very quickly that my two buddies and their families HATE that trail and heights . I laughed hysterically at their comments over the radio. Erin feared we would not have friends at the end of the trail we are still friends

Make it happen, it’s well worth it. That’s my 7th trip there and I’m far from seeing half the stuff offered!
Yeah. I have an uncle in Flagstaff that does jeeping that I should go visit. He would know all the good places to explore

Beautiful country. When Hannah and Rob move to Phoenix area in '25, Roni and I will have reason to come out in wintertime. :)

BTW, nice articulation on the Tracker.

Thats still a good 4-5 hours from moab but still better than driving from phx lol. You can rent all kinds of different jeeps in moab, from stock to fully built on 40's. That lets you really get after the hardcore trails if you wanted. Prichett canyon is the toughest there and definitely takes some driver skill. ive not taken the tracker on it yet due to my fragile front diff but once i get the TTB front end in, ill have no fear of going on it. 33's are on the small side for it though lol

Adjuster got back with me.. truck is not totalled...
They're mailing the check... Per progressive company policy due to the amount.. I have to have signature of the lien holder to cash it..

If I had a working EIN probably could have bypassed the lien holder signature required.

Check should be here Tue/Wed next week. then take a day off to drive to the main office. Which is about hour away from my house and see what hoop I have to jump through

Hannah told me that is their plan once Rob gets out of the Army in late '24 (if they survive ElPaso, that is). I guess he has lots of family in the Phoenix area. Roni and I were over at his parents this past weekend, and they were talking about selling their place and moving out there, too.

TX of course
Did some kit flying in the nice weather with my little girl this weekend.

My boy still isn't doing to well. We did get him to go out and play for a little bit, but he quickly got upset and we had to take him back inside.
