Rods

I have no pony in this show at all, but I have raced for 25 years and have blown up anything that will run! I think (which means nothing) that if Nick paid the money back for the rods that would be as good as it gets. Most company's I have delt with other the years will not pay for anything beyond there part. It sure would be nice if they paid for the engine but I have never seen that happen. This is just a bad deal for everyone involved. I sure wouldn't be happy to have to take my motor back out and apart to replace what I just put in there. Jeff

Pat has anyone tested the strength of an lbz rod compared to other rods? Seems like with the right tunning and other mods these rods are holding up very well and for the average guy 500-600rwhp, these will work fine with the proper setup. I know guys have ran higher power with them but I see these numbers as average now a days.

It has been my hope for a few years now, that you could run 750rwhp with stock internals reliably. I've got a tune that only makes 1090ftlb but 755rwhp with a GT42 and dual fuelers. If I had the time and money, I'd put the setup on Blue and see if it survives.

I have a list of "half-finished" projects a mile long. :D

how can we be for sure that this rod is weaker than a stock rod.

In my experience of racing motors, (I race a latemodel with a 350 chevy under the hood). I have blown plenty of SBC motors and no warranty was implied unless the parts manufacture acutally warrantied their part in which case they will exchange the broken part for the same new part. I have never heard of a builder or machine shop warranting any whole motors and seldom do they give you a discount when you blow one up.

Let's put this another way.

You bring your truck in for an oil change. The dealership owner sells you the parts and services. There is a massive screwup due to not checking the oil level, and the engine blows up. The dealership decided that to cut corners, they would have the janitor do your truck.

Who should fit the bill?

Very good point, the dealership did the work and made a mistake.

Howerver nick didn't install the rods in to bens motor did he??
